California Dutch: July 2012
http://cadutch.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
This is the blog that's all about one California girl becoming Dutch. Monday, July 30, 2012. They All Look Like That. About time Holland got world-wide props on the front page of Yahoo's "news" site! For having the most attractive team at the Olympics:. It's true. Google them sometime. The odd thing is that in Holland, these are fairly typical young women. The country is overflowing with attractive blondes. Dime a dozen, even. OK I'm an utter failure at "becoming Dutch" in this category. But hey! Last Th...
California Dutch: June 2014
http://cadutch.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
This is the blog that's all about one California girl becoming Dutch. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Polar Bears in Holland. And the Dutch word for pacing is "polar bear." That's used as a verb of course. What the, who the, hunh? Ze ijsbeert door de wachtkamer. She polar-bears through the waiting room. [She paced in the waiting room. (Dutch story-telling is typically cast in the present tense, so tenses often have to be shifted for proper translation.)]. Weird, wonderful, Dutch. :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Daily Wot: March 2012
http://dailywot.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Wot-ness from around the planet. Daily Wot isn't daily. Unless it wants to be. Have wot-ness to share? There was an error in this gadget. Friday, March 9, 2012. The next time you are in a room with more than 2 women of childbearing age (this may not happen frequently for some of you), look right, look left, look forward: it is extremely likely that one of the three women in the room has had an abortion. Is that really the way children should come into the world? Contraception is HER job. (Except that...
Daily Wot: May 2012

Wot-ness from around the planet. Daily Wot isn't daily. Unless it wants to be. Have wot-ness to share? There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, May 24, 2012. Today's blog probably belongs on "WTH" (wherever that may be) rather than on the Daily Wot. At any rate:. Austerity. It's the present in some parts of Europe. It's a subtle present and less-subtle future in the US. What's it mean? Humanity. Now why would people protest or fight against that? Socialism. For our less-politically-savvy friends,...

Daily Wot: August 2012
http://dailywot.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Wot-ness from around the planet. Daily Wot isn't daily. Unless it wants to be. Have wot-ness to share? There was an error in this gadget. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Who's writing the script? I mean. If someone says, "A rose by any other name.," then anyone decently read has the Shakespeare bell go off immediately. When we watch ten different news anchors parrot a phrase like, "Muslim seminary," we know that writer of The Memo is speaking. So who's writing the script? Has The Memo spread? It goes a little ...
California Dutch: The S-word
http://cadutch.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-s-word.html
This is the blog that's all about one California girl becoming Dutch. Friday, August 29, 2014. Some time ago, I was having a conversation with two friends about Zwarte Piet, because they had broached the subject. It's not something I would ever bring up, but the Dutch do not avoid difficult topics. Carefully couching a statement in words that will not be offensive is called "being political," and, as far as I can tell, is considered insulting. Zwarte Pieten are the companions to Sinterklaas. Four hundred...
California Dutch: December 2012
http://cadutch.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
This is the blog that's all about one California girl becoming Dutch. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Someone I love described a quote from dear old Abe as "everything" that the "greater man believed in." Of course not being able to let that go, I posted another of Abe's quotes, which didn't contradict the first, but certainly undercut the way it was being used. Vague? Maybe Because neither quote is the point. The point, rather, is that this person I love responded by posting the following:. I could use emer...
Daily Wot: Acceptable Compromises?
http://dailywot.blogspot.com/2012/08/acceptable-compromises.html
Wot-ness from around the planet. Daily Wot isn't daily. Unless it wants to be. Have wot-ness to share? There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, August 23, 2012. It goes a little something like this: "Life begins at conception. Therefore all abortion and some contraception is wrong. Period. But if we say that, there's no way we'll be able to get our platform past the American people. Therefore, in order to get more votes, it's OK to kill children sometimes.". Library and information science. served fresh daily. June 10, 2002. Well I finally got the job situation all worked out. More on that later. But now I'm in 'find an apartment and move' mode, hence the lack of posts. (If anyone knows of any vacancies in Providence, RI, let me know.) I'm headed down to Atlanta on Thursday, so if any of you will be there, let me know. And we can chill. Posted by tj at 10:19 AM. May 23, 2002. Developers Kit for Factiva. Posted by tj at 8:03 PM. Crossed Wires | Where the Library and Information world intersect
Getting back into the groove. It’s hard to get back into the habit of writing whilst adjusting to huge changes. However, the itch to write has been pestering me lately. My current position has moved me further away from libraries, per se. In that my focus is upon our ontology (keywords and keyword structure) as well as other writing standards for a large content management system. And yet…I still am a library geek :). About a challenge to Farhenheit 451. I do wish people would. October 7, 2006 at 9:33 am.

May 27, 2011} Re-purposing. I’m re-purposing this blog. My life has changed completely. The result is that I have no idea where I will be in twelve weeks. But I do know this: More change is in the works. So here’s what I’m going to do instead: I’m re-purposing this blog, and each day I’ll write a story, maybe very short, maybe in more detail, about something that has happened in my life. That’s it. Just a story every day. Just one. Kaykayeindbq @ 6:58 am [filed under Uncategorized. While it’s true ...
