Fostering the People: March 2012
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. Whoomp There It Is. I thought you knew. This [awesome] song has been stuck on repeat in my brain today. I didn't hear it on the radio or play it on my iPod but it's there, nonetheless. I guess it's sort-of fitting; I've been feeling just a little blind-sided this past week or so. I thought I knew what to expect/where we were on this journey and then WHOOMP, there it is - our agency is going under. Tired of the foster care runaround. Originally published in "Adoption Nation:.

Fostering the People: October [capturing the simple]
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012/11/october-capturing-simple.html
Monday, November 12, 2012. October [capturing the simple]. I'm sorry to say this blog has been neglected. Honestly, our life is just too boring to write about sometimes. That sounds sad, but it isn't. I'm good with boring, drama-free, day-to-day life. I'm comfortable here right now and am hoping we get to ride out the rest of the year this way. (. With that said, October is one of my favorite months. Why? Because we get to celebrate Stephen's birth and that makes me oh so happy! Here are the highlights.

Fostering the People: July 2012
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. Jasmine visiting the nursing department at Grayson County College. Jasmine. She came into our lives in an unexpected way - a desperate phone call from a soon-to-be homeless teen to a ministry leader at our church - and challenged us for 21 days. It was hard. It was disruptive. It was frustrating. It was awkward. And, in the end, it wasn't meant to be. It's been two weeks since Stephen dropped her off at her new "home" (her co-worker's apartment) and we're still trying to unpack our...

Fostering the People: 8 is GREAT!
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012/08/8-is-great.html
Monday, August 20, 2012. Today is our anniversary! In honor of our 8 married years together, here are 8 simple truths about marriage from our POV. Marriage is HARD so pick your partner wisely! Your spouse is not your savior - he's. A guy and she's. The first year (or two) is the hardest so hang in there! Marriage is SO MUCH MORE than a paper contract - it's two becoming one. The sweet spot of marriage. Marriage is a relationship, not a project to complete or a problem to solve. Makes you a better person.

Fostering the People: October 2012

Thursday, October 4, 2012. September [capturing the simple]. A birthday rental for the [rainy] weekend. An AWESOME gift ['cause chewing is so over-rated.]. Except for when you're chewing. On your 33rd bday. Hello, chocolate croissants]. Time really does fly when you're. Well, we left August behind, along with our vacay in Destin. And ended September with a visit from my mom and a broken washing machine [totally unrelated, by the way.at least I think so.]. As for 33 being the happiest year.

Fostering the People: July [capturing the simple]

Tuesday, August 7, 2012. July [capturing the simple]. Wanna hear something really crazy? 105 temps, vacation countdown, football season prep, etc. AUGUST. Truth is, it's been kind-of slow around these parts. After Jasmine left. Things around our house returned to their regularly scheduled programming fairly quickly and we have settled back into our routine.hallelujah! So, feast your eyes on July. My first sit-and-sew, hosted by Gretchen. And benefiting little girls in Uganda. The Volvo hits 80,000 miles.

Fostering the People: May 2012
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 28, 2012. So, why’d we go all Genesis 22 on you these last two days? A big decision has been made in our house and the story of Abraham and Isaac is a beautiful parallel to our experiences these past few months. To us, this is a bizarre story, right? Child sacrifice is barbaric and primitive; God even commanded the Israelites not. To do it. So we read this story with great surprise. Really, God? But the story gets even crazier because then God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son! God The Bible...

Fostering the People: It's All About ME!
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012/03/its-all-about-me.html
Monday, March 19, 2012. It's All About ME! Complaining. Kicking and screaming. Pouting. Annoyed. Yeah, that's me in a nutshell right now. Nice, huh? The further and further down the rabbit hole of fostering we travel, the more and more frustrated and anxious I get. In the past few weeks I have actually thought (and said) "I am worried that kids are going to. Our life." Dramatic much, Sunny? Right Between. The. Eyes. She is SO right. The more perfect my life. The less I (think I). Got it, Sunny? Its all t...

Fostering the People: September 2012
http://fosteringthepeople.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 5, 2012. August [capturing the simple]. Another month down - it's hard to believe - and this one was super special! In our family, August kicks off a busy fall beginning with the anniversary of our "I do's.". This August proved even better with a family vacation in Destin, Florida. Side note: our condo owner rocked and added two days onto our stay at no charge! Remember "The Truman Show? I'm not going to mention names, but. Prescription sunglasses in the gulf when a gnarly wave took.
