Life Down Under

Monday, 23 September 2013. Throwing My Apron Back On! After recently being involved with a friend's wedding I've decided to throw myself back into the cake baking business! The reception was held at marybrooke.com.au. In the Dandenong Mountain ranges. It is a beautiful place to have a reception and everything was perfect, except for the crazy windy road to get there! It was kinda nuts, but I arrived safely with everything in tact. I am certain that I've got a few more gray hairs after delivering that...

Life Down Under: December 2011

http://www.lifedownunder-rachel.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 7 December 2011. Some Things I Love About Christmas. I love how we all go crazy and decorate for Christmas in our homes, even though I haven't done it for the past 2 years now. Maybe we won't even get to it here at my parents house, but we'll probably do something! There is a kind of madness and energy that is only around at this time of year.take the good, leave the bad. I love collecting ornaments every year and adding new ones to the collection. Koalas and Kangaroos this year!

Life Down Under: My Weekend In Sydney

http://www.lifedownunder-rachel.blogspot.com/2013/08/my-weekend-in-sydney.html

Monday, 5 August 2013. My Weekend In Sydney. Time is quickly moving along here in Australia and we are busy with school, work, basketball, church, school camp etc. Time Out for Women tofw.com. Her shop is darling, too bad she had to close it, but the good news is her stuff is still available online at donnahay.com.au. She actually ended up being there in person and we had a photo taken with her! Tracy, our new bestie Donna Hay and me. Mmmm, I recommend the Salted Caramel, delish! Sydney is a beautiful ci...

Sunday, 20 May 2012. Footy and Cinco de Mayo. I can't believe that we've almost been in Australia for 18 months! What a difference a year makes. I am amazed how much has changed.for the better! It's good and really rivals the fresh Mex back home. I just wish it were closer. We "go for" (Aussie way of saying root for) Hawthorne. Our next sporting event should be a Rugby match or a Cricket game. And if you know of any great Mexican food around the Melbourne area, let me know! Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Life Down Under: November 2011

Sunday, 27 November 2011. We had our friends bring homemade pies and they were beautiful! They tasted even better! It was a great night. Our Bishop brought us a fresh Snapper that he had just caught that afternoon, so he filleted the fish after dinner right in the middle of all the madness! We had 16 kids and 14 adults, it was fun filled and we are indeed blessed! Sunday, November 27, 2011. Sunday, 6 November 2011. Mick, Hannah and Dan. I took a few photos then a saleslady scolded me for doing so! We are...

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD!: March 2012

http://itsghanabegood.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. We are all really just children walking around in bodies that are "seasoned," a nice way of saying - getting older. I don't think our minds ever really get old, unless we let them stay still. It's fun to stay curious, inventive, playful, and my friend, Ann, has brought out these girlish qualities in many of us here, by sharing her Doll House. The Dining Room. It's as elegant as any 19th century dining room could be. I love the golf...

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Doing the same things, but in a different way. I read a book, Doing What Must be Done. Our shopping area is called Makola Market - and it is a free-for-all, so to speak, of open-air stands and displays. If you want to go into business, set up some shelves, get a product, and go to work. Here they are: Joseph, Steven, and Jill. He found a pair which pleased him and, voila: new shoes at a decent price. Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Last week...

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Ben Gibbah and David. Ben is one of our best supporters. He is in the Finance Dept., a wizard,.and a very good friend. This last weekend we were to visit two different areas: Swedru, then Kpong. The names sound like sneezes to me - - but the countryside is spectacular. Just beautiful. On our way to Kpong, we must pass by the Shai Hills Preserve, which is one of the smaller preserves around. Baboons are plentiful inside, but they...

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Friday, June 29, 2012. From high-tech ipads.to the age-old tradition of bead-making. Our "Ipad-Cafe." So many people have ipads here (ordered one! That our group got together to share apps and "how-to-do-this." It was such fun, and the possibilities seem to be infinite. We met at Jane Curtis's house, hooked the ipad up to the TV, and started "school." (The home-made cinnamon rolls were the advertiser that got us all there! Molds for the beads. They make ...

IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Sunday, December 23, 2012. Playing Catch Up Since September! On Dec 1st, our ward (Kwabenya) had their own "Helping Hands" service project: cleaning the local community hospital. We had a huge turnout with many helping hands. The hospital was so grateful for the ward's efforts, it did a free screening a few weeks later at the church to reciprocate. IT'S GHANA BE GOOD! Adventures in West Africa. Sunday, January 29, 2012. From High End.to Low Budget. My theme for the last few days has been unusual buildings. The XGI Tower was built by a Nigerian company for an investment Group. It stands out. Concave sides, reflective windows, a rotating restaurant on top make it a landmark of innovative techniques in a country that is still trying to make driving rules uniform. Still looking at the same university, but this stairway is attached to the student housing.

Life Downside Up

Because life hasn't been the same since. Thursday, December 6, 2012. I'm moving back to my old haunts at A Sort of Notebook. No particular reason. (Actually, there are several reasons, but believe me, you really don't care what they are.) I also thought that Jonathan. One of my few remaining readers, hasn't had enough excitement in his life lately. I'd tried to start a blog at Wordpress, but it didn't work out so well. I guess I am a true blue Blogger.com fan.).
