Backpacking the World Life in a Sack. Backpacking With No Plan is a Good Plan. January 21, 2011. Caye Caulker, Belize. Not bad for a spur of the moment decision. I sat near the aft of the boat with the sun shining down, wind streaking through my hair and looked across the Caribbean Sea at the island of Caye Caulker, Belize. If my trip was originally supposed to be Guatemala only, how the hell did I end up here? 8211; – –. 8211; – –. Where the decision was made. 8220;Let me get this straight… You&#8...

Backpacking the World Life in a Sack. Caye Caulker, Belikin and $12.50 Lobsters: Un-Belize-able. January 31, 2011. 8220;Caye Caulker, Go Slow” was one of the first things I saw after getting off the ferry from Belize City. 8211; – –. My daily routine went something like this:. Wake up. No matter what time I went to sleep, I’d always wake up around this time. It didn’t help that the beds at Tropical Paradise were shit and I could feel the individual springs digging into my back. Nap time. Awesome. Dinner&...

Solar powered travel – the way of the future? | Soi Via Calle

Whimsical rantings of a globetrotter. Laquo; “Do. Or do not. There is no try”. Solar powered travel – the way of the future? July 20, 2010 by Laura @ Grassroots Nomad. I just read an article. About a solar powered plane that has flown continuously for 7 days. Impressive eh? It was unmanned, but I can’t help but think that this could be opening a whole new window for people to travel in a more environmentally friendly way. Source: http:/ www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-10664362. Anyway, back to my ...

Whimsical rantings of a globetrotter. Laquo; New recipe added. Home sweet home… ish? A killer monkey, one thousand steps and a crowded marketplace. Welcome to Burma. June 2, 2010 by Laura @ Grassroots Nomad. Climbing into the back of a falling apart pick up truck, I knew that this wouldn’t be a comfortable ride. Kyle and I were all templed out so we decided to spend our final day in Bagan visiting the nearby Mount Popa – only an hour or so out-of-town. Ox and cart - one of many en route to Mount Popa.

Whimsical rantings of a globetrotter. Laquo; Solar powered travel – the way of the future? Corrida de toros – is this the end for bullfighting in Spain? July 25, 2010 by Laura @ Grassroots Nomad. Toledo is a picturesque old town only about 70km southwest of Madrid. Apparently it used was the capital of the Spanish Empire until the 1500’s when the Royal family moved to Madrid. Probably because they were sick of walking up and down hills in 45 degree heat. Whilst you are there:. If you do a little research...

Just another aspiring travel writer struggling to complete their manuscript…. Laquo; bleak coast. How to not write a book. July 30, 2010 by courtneykane. Beauty in the unseen. 8220;The world is like a Mask dancing. If you want to see it well you do not stand in one place.” Chinua Achebe, Nigerian novelist. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. I cannot believe that I have been in Mumbai for almost 2 weeks! I have been incredibly busy which has made time fly by. It’s not uncommon to pull a 16-hour workday – spending 8 to 10 hours in the field and having project meetings until 2am. It’s mentally and physically exhausting, but I love it! So so soooo disgusting! I am an un...

Whimsical rantings of a globetrotter. Laquo; Holy Toledo! Corrida de toros – is this the end for bullfighting in Spain? July 29, 2010 by Laura @ Grassroots Nomad. But Catalonia is not the only region in Spain to ban this blood-sport. In 1991, the Canary Islands banned all spectacles that include cruelty to animals.
