The Challenge is to Clean Up Labor Ready. Dear Labor Ready, Inc. Investors,. Today, three national organizations, the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and the North American Alliance for Fair Employment (NAFFE) mark their entry into the campaign to clean up the day labor industry. Of particular concern to you are our actions in more than 35 centers across the United States that challenge Labor Ready to treat day laborers fairly.

Some Answers to Questions about LRW. The day labor industry is a growing segment of the informal labor market and, through corporations like Labor Ready, making inroads into the formal labor market. For this reason, NAFFE is challenging the entire day labor industry to meet certain basic standards of fairness. Why is Labor Ready important? Furthermore, the corporation is expanding internationally into the UK and Canada. Its growth has made it the single largest employer in the construction industry.

Labor law violation: LRW faces many suits because of its violation of labor laws, including its failure to provide workers with written job descriptions, provide benefits, pay workers for overtime or waiting time, and for its trend of blocking labor friendly laws, such as protection from discrimination and the right to organize. Workers’ comp irregularities: Many reports indicate that LRW has misclassified its workers and underreported injuries in order to cut its comp costs.
