Continuing our tour of Lang Pioneer Village. August 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm. We chose the grassy area out front of the visitor’s centre where there were both trees and picnic tables where we’d eat our lunch. My daughter and husband went to the car to collect our picnic items and we spread out a blanket for anyone to sit in the sun who chose to. The day was a bit cool. My husband got to have his sandwich after all. Guess that’s a lesson not to leave it to the birds. On to the Douro town hall, after passing bui...

July 22, 2015 at 4:03 pm. Over a week ago we were in the middle of our holidays in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario. Being 2 1/2 hours away by car is different from flying to a far-flung island, but it was a good holiday spent with family and some time on our own as well. I’ll be spreading this holiday over several posts, so stay tuned. We arrived at Grandview Resort on Buckhorn Lake on the 10th of July mid-afternoon, in time to relax a bit and get settled in before the supper hour. On The ga...

Back to holidays–Lang Pioneer Village. August 5, 2015 at 4:29 pm. This year when we toured Lang Pioneer Village. We were there with our daughter and her two young children. Seen and experienced from an almost-4 to a nearly-6 year-old’s perspective, we would understandably travel through the village at a different pace than we did a year ago. We started our tour with the animal pen next to the Milburn House, where pigs were snuffling in their pen and coming to see who was looking in at them. We stopped at...

Toastmasters, even on holidays. July 25, 2015 at 1:07 pm. One more post for Lang Village. August 13, 2015 at 1:20 pm. The day at Lang Pioneer Village. Included a lot of stops. Our next one was the cider mill where people brought apples to be sorted, pressed and made into cider. The girls know about apple picking and they’ve tasted sweet apple cider, but this was interesting. We saw a big apple peeler and lots of barrels. We walked through an old barn where many piece of equipment were on display. It was a good place to stop and sit for a few minutes. You are co...

The yucca root grows deep | Storygal's Blog
https://storygal.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/the-yucca-root-grows-deep
The yucca root grows deep. May 29, 2015 at 1:20 am. I wanted to do some planting tonight. I managed to put in a few new perennials, Euryopa Margarita, but not where I wanted to put them. As I dug, it became apparent that the Margarita would not work in that place until after I’d dug it out. So I put the margaritas in another place. A small hand shovel wasn’t working so I got out a bigger shovel with the point on the bottom to really get in there. Entry filed under: Uncategorized. Time to Plant the Garden.
