Birds in progress - A Dedicated Follower of Fashion
http://mandie-rw.livejournal.com/461021.html
A Dedicated Follower of Fashion. Aug 9th, 2015 at 12:14 AM. In the process of draping the gown - the back was the easiest, so I decided to fit, cut, and sew that first. So far so good! I may regret saying this, but Im not finding a polonaise nearly as intimidating to drape as Ive been led to believe. (Famous last words? No progress pictures, as I can tell Im doing some things in a less-than-ideal manner.maybe next time! I know its the fronts, if anything, thatll give me fits, but well see! Z:18thc:i want...

The LORD giveth, and the LORD taketh away. - The Couture Courtesan
http://reine-de-coudre.livejournal.com/214249.html
He · C. Outure · C. The LORD giveth, and the LORD taketh away. This post has been brewing in my mind for some time now. Hopefully I can articulate everything Ive been feeling and thinking lately. So thats where I am physically. Emotionally.spiritually. Its a whole nother story. Ive delayed writing this because frankly I feel guilty. By sewing. Even if I am able to heal this time, starting to hand sew again will only restart the process all over. I am reminded of Job. I am confused and angry. Why ...Every...

Criminal Minds ponderings - ...It's the Principle of the Thing
http://hiraimi.livejournal.com/98129.html
Its the Principle of the Thing. December 2nd, 2016. So I just caught up on the last two eps of CM and OMG HOTCH Y U LEAVE! Emily is a logical replacement but Hotch has been a staple for 12 seasons. so stoic but those moments of emotion and naturally everyone is super attached! At least Derek had the decency to leave at the end of a season - not like thats any easier, but at least its less unexpected? 2016-12-02 11:37 pm (UTC). 2016-12-03 12:41 am (UTC). That explains the sudden departure!

The green and ivory bustle gown - Diary of a Costumer
http://theladyrebecca.livejournal.com/146873.html
Diary of a Costumer. The green and ivory bustle gown. Aug 5th, 2015 at 4:25 PM. I am so pleased with how this turned out. I dont think Ive ever felt more like a fashion plate! Its definitely not perfect - the bodice has a bunch of wrinkles, and four of the seams inside the bodice are not actually finished. But it makes me feel so grand and elegant. And for once, I think I got the hair right! Now I need to plan more events that are okay for wearing trains. And mine, in dark green:. You looked so super bea...

http://mala-14.livejournal.com/207746.html
CoCo 2015 Recap: Monday. I dont have any real pictures from Monday other than two hazy ones taken of the Hollywood sign on the way to the Garment District. I was too busy shopping! And I joined two other ladies, Elizabeth and Jonalyn (sp? First we went to breakfast at Rubys diner, where I had a nice waffle with bacon and fruit, in order to prepare for the long day of shopping ahead. We had a few errands to run before hitting the Garment District, but our first real stop was the FIDM Scholarship Store.

A Dedicated Follower of Fashion. Aug 3rd, 2015. Now that were done with that 1920s distraction, lets get back to business. (Although Robin pointed out to me that The Dumpiest Dress looks like a Wenesday Addams dress, which made me like it a lot more. Did I need a Halloween costume? I havent forgotten about my Lost Hope dress, but the weather forecast has the temperature below 90 later in the week, so Im going to wait a few more days to brave the sewing room of Hades. In the meantime. So far, so good.

2015 plans, v.1.1. Jan 25th, 2015 at 8:14 PM. And I also previously changed my gala dress plan. So the the renewed list:. 1 1750's riding habit. 2 1760's Saque / Jesuit. 3 Edwardian day dress. 4 Lady Maud evening gown. 5 Finish the sheer striped 1780's dress. 6 And if I have the time before CoCo. A 1790's brocade jacket with some fun accessories (I could use the petticoat from the sheer striped dress and also wouldn't need to pack any new underwear.). Then after Costume College. 8 the Vernet project.
