Vegetarian Question... (cross posted): eating_cheap
http://eating-cheap.livejournal.com/65146.html
Vegetarian Question. (cross posted). Tonight, we are having a pot-luck, and the theme is Vegetarian. Since I still have to straighten the house, when I get home, I won't have much time. Does anyone have any suggestions as to something quick to make that will make even the meat eaters happy? Also, I have a friend who is coming, and she has no stove. A griddle and a microwave, but no stove or oven. She is also unemployed. Any suggestions as to what she could make, and bring? Post a new comment.

My "Mental Cookbook" is broken....: eating_cheap
http://eating-cheap.livejournal.com/63844.html
My "Mental Cookbook" is broken. I'm trying to think, and I can't think of anything. Every week, we have a potluck of sorts. Usually, we have a theme, and I co-ordinate it all. (who brings what dishes, etc.). This week, I ran out of ideas. Last night, it was suggested that we do a straight potluck. (I.E. everyone bring a dish, and what we get is what we get.). But I can't think of what to make. *sigh*. One lady is bringing peach cobbler, and one lady is bringing red beans and rice. New York Street food.

Combining Staples to Eat Well: eating_cheap
http://eating-cheap.livejournal.com/64165.html
Am I to entertain your ballad of dissatisfaction? Am I to entertain your ballad of dissatisfaction? Combining Staples to Eat Well. A friend and I were talking at dinner last night about how we were at our most healthy and creative when we were poorest. I'm not a rice and beans lover, unfortnately, but here are some fresh ingredients and staples I bought and combined in many ways during my student days. Rice - side dish, soup ingredient. Or buy bulk chicken legs or thighs, usually on sale. This was my sho...

Soapbox - Designing My Life
http://silvana.livejournal.com/246387.html
For years now, I've devoted my life to theatre, and have been largely surrounded by people who already know why it's important. But just a few weeks ago, I had a fascinating conversation with a financial planner who asked me to articulate its importance to me. As a non-artist who only occasionally sees theatre with [his] wife, he really didn't have any of the same assumptions. At any rate - the debate of are the arts important? This, I believe:. I believe that many people will show you studies and expert...

Like I inhabit a physical body or something - Making Your Reality a Little More Sur
http://insidian.livejournal.com/453779.html
Hold em, Fold em, RUN! Like I inhabit a physical body or something. I've been in the process of weaning for what seems like seventeen eternities, but the end is in sight! I'm down to her morning nursing and going-to-bed nursing. No more pumping! The next feed to go is morning. I'll be able to sleep in sometimes! Then by next weekend, no more evening nursing either. My boobs will be my own! All I can see is ice packs, tylenol, and (of all things) cabbage leaves. Babies, man. They'll screw you up. I'm too ...
