Word to the Wise. Comments on contemporary cultural discourse. November 24, 2009. Questions in the Hope of Furthering Feminist Discourse on Trans Intersections. Posted in Gender issues. At 2:43 pm by Maggie Clark. 2) How, in the sphere of feminist activism, are we to align the transsexual stance that transwomen were female from birth just without the biology, and without the requisite physicality when feminism as a whole sees being woman as a social construct foisted on born-women by the society we’re en...

Word to the Wise. Comments on contemporary cultural discourse. November 19, 2009. My Gender Is Not My Own. At 2:02 pm by Maggie Clark. Hi, my name is Maggie. My sex is female, and I was born that way. My gender? Well, it turns out my gender matters a great deal. Why, just take a look at the biological differences between male and not-male: Are women on the whole physically stronger? Can they, as a class, make a legitimate threat of violence against men? No, it does not. And this in turn is a trick questi...

Word to the Wise. Comments on contemporary cultural discourse. December 17, 2009. On Gender Normativity, Privilege, and Oppression. Posted in Gender issues. At 11:32 am by Maggie Clark. A very thorough, engaging discussion on another post. Has finally led to the point where a fuller response is warranted than can be provided solely in the comment threads at hand. The precipitous comments in question are as follows:. Which to me seems to bounce off another comment by the same poster here:. It is, however,...

She opened a bakery, which attracted community residents looking for fresh French bread. After disaster struck the building in 2012, Judy was forced to start from scratch. Dhera Strauss interviews her about the rebuilding path. This audio was produced by Maggie Kane with interviews recorded by StoryCorps.
