Life in the Golden State. Monday, January 30, 2006. My weekend went well. On Friday, my sister picked me up from the airport with both Faolan and Kieran in tow. We had lunch at El Torrito, chased a few birds in the parking lot, painted some pottery for Mommy and Daddy, and went to Lord's (Loard's? I start work today at Grandma Nancy's office. Friday, April 17, 2015. Corn on the cob tip. Hm, i thought i'd added this tip but couldn't find it. How to steam corn on the cob. Boil some water and put a steam tray in the pot. water doesn't have to be enough to cover corn, but it has to be enough so that it doesn't all boil out and evaporate. I bought some mini command hooks but they were too big to hang my calendar. i strung a thin ring of ribbon through the calendar holes and doubled it over before hanging it on the hook. it works great! We did this event last year and had so much fun. this year, we musta set off later coz we didn't sign in till 11:15, or so. the sign at the check-in said we had to be finished by 3pm. we didn't want to risk NOT getting back by 3pm and possibly not getting our stamp on the book. so we were in a time-crunch this time. I'd never had buttermilk apple pie and now i'd like to make one for turkey day. WALK only: 2.5 out of 5.

San juan bautista is a pretty nice town near hollister-ish. really small town. the walk, although quite nice, pretty much just went criss-crossing around the downtown area. we got pretty familiar with some of the businesses in downtown. San juan bautista mission. the biggest one! And it sits right on top of the san andreas fault. Original el camino real. Town has lotsa lotsa olive trees. Stopped for ice cream, too.

Year round events are walks you can do any day, any time. you just go to a specified start point (hotel front desk, coffee shops, rec centers), ask for a "walk box" or binder, fill out some forms, get your books stamped, take out a route map, and get walking. Monday, January 18, 2010. Blue and light amethyst. These were made for a birthday present. Blue (and red veins, but mostly blue) beads are alternated with light amethyst rondelles and tiny swarovski pearls. the three big crystals in the middle are swarovski "cosmic" beads in light amethyst. Or i dunno, maybe this way is better. Sunday, January 10, 2010. These were gifted to my hair-accesories-fiend friend, dayni. Top one was randomly decorated with glass beads in browns, golds, and beiges.
