Immersion of Undergraduates in Modern Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research. Specifically, the lower division Introductory Laboratory course incorporates a new research component, the Large-scale Undergraduate Research Experience (LURE). Each introductory biology student uses RNA interference to knock down one of the 20,000 genes in the roundworm.

Skip to main content. Patrick Keeley receives Winifred and Louis Lancaster Dissertation Award. June 15, 2015. Patrick earned his Ph.D. in MCDB in the laboratory of Professor Ben Reese in fall 2013, where he has investigated development, spatial patterning and circuity in the retina. His dissertation was titled "Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Retinal Circuit Development". Patrick is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the UCSB Neurosciences Research Institute.
