In 2009, he began learning Kung Fu and Tai Chi from Sifu Gary LaChapelle. He found Kung Fu and Tai Chi to be both exciting and extremely challenging. The concepts, applications, and even teaching styles were quite different from what he had experienced with the militaristic arts of Karate and Tae Kwon Do. Eventually, after many years of growth, he received his black sash in Huaquan Kung Fu in 2013.
