How I trained to run my first 50-mile race. January 13, 2014. Yesterday I ran my first 50-mile race and placed 3rd overall out of 401 participants. I took the wrong turn at mile 17 and ran 1.7 miles extra. I ended up at the finish line at 51.7 miles in 7 hours and 26 minutes. Below are a few notes about my race training, race strategy and actual race.
