Finding Our Stories | ASIAN AMERICAN MIDWIVES
https://asianamericanmidwives.org/2014/03/21/finding-our-stories
When I had the first inklings that my journey to midwifery had already begun, I started looking everywhere for stories of Asian American Midwives. I didn’t care what their background was, whether they attended births at home or in the hospital…I was just hungry to hear about the experiences of other students who share a similar cultural background. And, I’ve only found one book out there that explores the history of Asian American midwives,. Who did they serve? What drew them to their work? March 21, 2014.

Midwives were seen as the community healers, the ones to turn to for physical and emotional support. Photograph: Amy Helene Johansson. Today midwives continue the tradition of being. Welcome | ASIAN AMERICAN MIDWIVES
https://asianamericanmidwives.org/about-3
My name is Lena Soo Hee Wood. I started this project because as a Korean-American nurse-midwifery student, I struggled to find other midwives out there who looked like me. I was inspired by Claudia Booker. A Certified Professional Midwife based in Washington, D.C., who recently gathered a collection of photos of Black midwives during African-American History month. And shared them on Facebook. I couldn’t help thinking,. 8220;Where are all the Asian-American midwives? There are midwives of color out there.
