Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Day 49: One last Utah park. We packed up camp and started our journey to Seattle with today's destination being just south of Salt Lake City. We are making a couple stops on the way and expect to arrive in town Friday afternoon. Along the way, we made a quick stop in the Kolob Canyons portion of Zion. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Day 48: Hiking in a river. The "trail" itself is actually the Virgin River. You spend about 60% of the time walking in the river itself which is why having the water boots, thick neoprene socks and walking stick were worth the $20 a person to rent. I estimate that we made it about four miles upstream before turning around. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Day 45-46: Photos from Bryce. Backpacker magazine recommended the Fairyland Loop in Bryce Canyon. It didn't take long to see why. Stunning landscapes, crazy hoodoos, windows and arches were to be found from the minute you set foot on the trail. On day two at Bryce, we headed for the Figure 8 trail which combines a couple of loop trails including the Navajo and Peekaboo Loops. While not quite as spectacular as the Fairyland Loop, this hike still had plenty of offer.
