Of new growth stud the branches. Interspersed, in hedges trim,. The hawthorn offers a million jagged hands,. Inviting all who will to enter and. Partake of paper-thin and succulent mesophyll. Lepidoptera Log: Mothing moments - June 2013

http://angleshades.blogspot.com/2013/12/mothing-moments-june-2013.html

A moth recording blog. Monday, 30 December 2013. Mothing moments - June 2013. Only two weeks into a five-week, scot-free winter holiday at the end of what has been a fairly overwhelming year. it's time to relax and, on the advice of Her Majesty, time to reflect. But first, I have a bit of explaining to do. Last post. 30 June. Exactly six months ago. Moth eggs, of course. Well, the moth freaked out and laid 139. Eggs in the pot. Of which hatched out. One of my favourite micro-moths:. Let me out of here!

Lepidoptera Log: Snowed under

http://angleshades.blogspot.com/2013/06/snowed-under.html

A moth recording blog. Sunday, 30 June 2013. For the past month I've had to redirect all my blogging energy to exams. So I haven't been able to talk much about these guys. Ah, silly me, back in April - "I think I'll start another blog to go along with the one that I already have trouble keeping up.". I took off the Garden Moths and Projects pages until such times as the former strikes me as a good idea again and the latter figures out what the heck. To do with itself. Flip, I gotta compress my life.

Lepidoptera Log: Munching Micropterix

http://angleshades.blogspot.com/2013/05/munching-micropterix.html

A moth recording blog. Sunday, 26 May 2013. Are unique in the world of Lepidoptera in that they have functional jaws! Most other moths can only consume liquids (using their proboscis) but these little guys like to munch pollen - in particular the most common species, Micropterix calthella. Dozens of which can be found in early summer occupying buttercup flowers. Last year about this time I recorded 45 of these little beauties at Glencairn Park. In similar conditions on Friday, I found just three. U#276 -...

Lepidoptera Log: One Brimstone Moth on its way...

http://angleshades.blogspot.com/2013/05/one-brimstone-moth-on-its-way.html

A moth recording blog. Friday, 24 May 2013. One Brimstone Moth on its way. Final update on Project 29A. Yes, that distinctive crescent-moon-with-a-nose at the end of last post could only belong to one moth. My Brimstone Moth emerged as an adult on Monday, just a day after I rescued it from its pill box coffin. A very close shave! I will put off that promised post about its life story again - but have a look at the Rearing Projects page - I've added more detail in its entry. One Brimstone Moth on its way.

Another wet night with very few flies arriving but, surprisingly, three moths in the egg boxes:. On close inspection of the scales, I found the Diurnea. To be the same individual caught on Tuesday night! It's a small world/garden. Another sleepy Hebrew Character (Orthosia gothica). Rearing: Angle Shades (Project 3B). The life dramas of the Millar Family.lol.with the occasional bit of scrapping! Thursday, June 28, 2012. I am so far behind on this blog.lol. So lots of things have been happening that have made me neglect this blog. The biggest is I have opened my own store.a mixed media / art supply store. So lots of time and energy has gone into sourcing products and of course uploading hundreds and hundreds of products individually, but it is one and if I do say so I think the store looks great.
