His sense of recognizing what he is creating, as well as his need to do the work he creates, really hit me in the gut. It is hard to explain to people what an artist’s work is about; harder still for some people to see it as work. The film is terrific; it is photographed exquisitely. And there are extra short films as well on the DVD.

The Places I Know by Heart. A Landscape Artist’s WordPress.com weblog. I use a limited palette of oils for my paintings, which I apply to create a layer of complementary colors as a base. This grounds the work in a wealth of voluptuous color and sets up a color vibration with the subsequent layers. The same technique also enlivens my mixed media works on paper.
