Finding the Extra In the Ordinary. Scenes of Life in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Easter at MAF with Grammee and Papa. We are now in Nampa, Idaho doing some final training with MAF before we head to Congo on May 12th. Grammee Kim and Papa Larry made the drive from California to visit over this Easter weekend. What a wonderful, meaningful time together full of great food, lots of laughs, and special time with the grandkids. Charlie is an expert stacker! The fam all together.

Talia has started school at a local French School called L'École Blaise Pascal. Stateside, she would be in second grade. However, here, they wanted her to start in first grade due to her limited French, which we thought was a great idea. She was very excited and a little nervous on her first day. Sam (and our team member Nate) have been in Kinshasa, the capital city of DRC, for the last week at one of our MAF bases. The Caravan had routine maintenance that was needed and Sam had some checkout flights to do with the Chief Pilot there. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival home tomorrow. It has felt like the longest week for us! They loved it (and so did I)!

We left Seattle at 11:18pm on May 12th, flew to Washington, D.C., then after a short layover we flew to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
