Ms Barnowsky's Explore Alaska Blog. Monday, November 15, 2010. Earthquake, Volcanos and Tsunami's! Three Saints Church as it stands now in Old Harbor, AK. I see similar debates here in Alaska with the oil in the North Slope. How do we preserve yet still utilize the resources. Can we? So using Google Earth we could test that distance and see where the visibility lines are. The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Center. Is a wonderful place to go to get recent statistics on tsunamis and earthquakes. The USGS.

Ms Barnowsky's Explore Alaska Blog. Thursday, December 30, 2010. The Cryosphere on Earth from Wikipedia. This is a module is all about the water, especially the frozen water. Have you ever heard of the Cryosphere? Boy, this module has taught me so much more about water! So exciting. I had never really thought about the Arctic as just a lot of floating ice. For some reason in my head, it was just like Antarctica. The Old Harbor Culvert. You can see the sea water entrance in the left of the photograph.

Ms. Barnowsky's Explore Alaska Blog: Ocean Systems

http://www.msbarnowskysexlporealaska.blogspot.com/2010/11/ocean-systems.html

Ms Barnowsky's Explore Alaska Blog. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Living on an island brings the ocean into our daily lives. I watch for changes in the tides and the migration of the animals in the area. Life in Old Harbor revolves around life in the ocean. Fishing is the primary economy here. The more I understand the ocean, the more I can understand my community. I had never seen the El Nino and La Nina shown as a visual trend. I remember the 1997-1998 El Nino and all the flooding that came. Bu...The v...

Saturday, December 18, 2010. Module IX Tales of Drunken Trees, Methane Bombs and Glacier Blues. Viewing the TD videos allowed me to gather valuable information on the module’s topic this week. Science Alaska Wages Style: Module IX Response

http://wagessciencealaska.blogspot.com/2010/12/module-ix-response.html

Science Alaska Wages Style. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. My biggest realization in this module is the amount of evidence that exists in Alaska. Something about seeing it all together and seeing video record of what is happening makes an incredible impact. When I look at the graph from the Climate Change. Seems interesting though that we are not in the warmest period on the graph so how much will our coastline really change. The lakes are just where we can test it easily, right? Another blog full of great ...
