Treatment of temporomandibular disorders by stabilising splints in general dental practice: results after initial treatment. During the first six weeks of treatment, the occlusal surface of the splint made no significant contribution to any of the outcomes measured suggesting that the occlusion is a relatively unimportant factor influencing recovery in the majority of TMD patients seen in practice.

A local telephone helpline was used to direct people wanting NHS dental care to available services. A small but significant number of people in South Cheshire have problems accessing NHS dental care.

Xylitol is one of a number of non-sugar sweeteners approved for use in foods and other items, in many countries. It is well-established that xylitol is non-cariogenic. Xylitol in chewing gum is anti-cariogenic as are other polyols in chewing gum. Xylitol exhibits dental health benefits which are superior to other polyols in all areas where polyols have been shown to have an effect.
