Concepts taught: sol, mi, la; steady beat; timbre; call/response. 1 One kid is the apple picker and sits facing away from the rest of the class as they sing the song. 2 As the song is sung, the kids pass the apple on the beat until the last word out. 3 At the end of the song the kids sing Who has the apple? Monday, December 15, 2014. Hello and happy almost-to-winter-break! I've noticed that the closer we get to the two-week break, the more distracted the students get. I've been trying something different this year to channel their energy- Christmas centers! The class is divided into four groups and they have about 7 minutes at each center. Each grade level has 2 centers focused on a rhythm or melodic concept they've been working on and 2 centers focused on Christmas music. Here is an example with 4th grade:.
