A food blog for people on the go. Welcome to my traveling food blog! Like you, food is very important to me. I want food that tastes great and satisfies, but I also like to feel like I’m eating a balanced diet–which can be difficult to maintain on the road. Storage, refrigeration, time, electricity, weather, money, and the availability of utensils and appliances are all obstacles while on the road. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. A food blog for people on the go. Asymp; Leave a comment. Cooking in Grand Canyon National Park. Here are a few pictures of what we saw along the way. From L to R: Mesa Verde in Colorado, Elk City Park in Oklahoma, and Bryce Canyon in Utah. The one downfall was that our fry pan is only big enough to cook one full size burger at a time, but they cook pretty quickly and stayed warm long enough so we could eat together. The making of Black Bean Burgers. Who says you need an oven to bake?

Karen's Korner: March 2013
http://www.turn3.net/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 8, 2013. Belated Happy New Year! After retiring, my parents frequently remarked that "They didn't know how they ever found the time to work! I now understand perfectly. Since returning to Florida in October it seems like we have been constantly busy. So here is a synopsis of our retired life up to this point. Just before we returned home the family was expanded by one. She has since moved to her "forever" home with our granddaughter. We still have the motorhome. :). In October we attended a...
Karen's Korner: October 2014

Sunday, October 26, 2014. After the Petrified Forest we headed east toward Pennsylvania. It was a long, tiring, and fortunately uneventful ride. Some hi-lights(? New Mexico - Delicious smoked ribs that were definitely "fall off the bone". Oklahoma - Windmills that extended in every direction for miles. Arkansas - Dottie's favorite way to travel. Tennessee - Can you sleep like this? Tennessee - Interesting place to stay! We spent two weeks in PA visiting family and friends, relaxing:. What can I say?
Karen's Korner: August 2012

Sunday, August 26, 2012. After saying farewell to the beautiful Homer Spit, we moved on to Seward. As we traveled along the Cook Inlet we saw what looked like a floating island to the left of us. The magical kingdom of Avalon? It was actually a tall snow covered mountain on the other side of the Inlet but fog and mist can sure play strange tricks! As it was a Saturday there were lots of fisherman about including some four legged ones that you can see in the background of the next picture. Our next stop w...
Karen's Korner: Our Last "Scenic" Stop - Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert
http://www.turn3.net/2014/10/our-last-scenic-stop-petrified-forest.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. Our Last "Scenic" Stop - Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. As we had to be back in Florida by the end of August it was time to start heading east. We weren't looking forward to the long days of driving so we made one last stop in Holbrook AZ to explore the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. It was hard to believe that these "rocks" were actually trees that lived 225 million years ago and remain today approximately where they originally fell. Another view. Can only i...
Karen's Korner: September 2014

Friday, September 26, 2014. Four Corners and Monument Valley. Our next excursion was to Monument Valley. As the Four Corners Monument was on the way, we stopped there first. There were just too many people present to get good close up pictures. All around the large square are buildings where the local residents (mostly Navajo Indians) sell their crafts. We found the majority of the items to be of good quality and reasonably priced. On to Monument Valley! View from John Ford's Point. View from Artist Point.

Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Friday we drove through the mountains one last time to visit Upper Whitewater Falls. These falls are near Cashiers, NC. The falls drop over 411 feet and are supposedly the tallest falls east of the Rocky Mountains. One last mountain view. I always dread having to pack up and return to our everyday routines. Hopefully this time next year that won't be an issue. If all goes well we should be retired and on permanent vacation. Hurray! Monday, August 8, 2011. After leaving the park w...
Karen's Korner: July 2013
http://www.turn3.net/2013_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 7, 2013. One of the most common questions asked a newly retired person is "What do you do all day? A good friend and I recently had a discussion about this and came to the conclusion that the given answer is frequently "stuff". So what IS "stuff"? For Bob and I "stuff" is pretty much the same every day things that we did when we worked only now we do it at a slower pace and and with more frequent breaks! And all of this had to be completed between the seemingly endless rain storms! And that ...

Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Lake Powell . . . Here We Come! After recuperating in St George, we packed up the cats, pulled in the slides, and headed for Lake Powell. First view of Lake Powell. We had an excellent site at the Lake Powell Marina and RV Resort . . . With a fantastic view. One day we took a boat tour of Lake Powell and some of the adjacent canyons. Lake side view of Glen Canyon Dam. Venturing into a canyon. Tower Butte with Navajo Mountain in background. Can you see the frog? Day in the Life...
