July | 2010 | Mzungu in Mtongwe

https://mzunguinmtongwe.wordpress.com/2010/07

Archive for July, 2010. So I have to admit it, I’m a complete sucker for inter-lingual puns. I find them hilarious. The Kiwahili word for chicken is kuku and there’s a place across from the FSD office called Kenchick Chicken. Can you guess their tag line? We’re ‘kuku’ about chicken! On a less ridiculous note, the week before last I took some pictures of Undungu Ni Kufaana, a woman’s group that feeds orphans and vulnerable children lunch twice a week. Some of my favorites are posted below. This woman amaz...

https://mzunguinmtongwe.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/more-referendum-day

So referendum day was lame. The results won’t be available until tomorrow so there weren’t any rallies or celebrations going on today. I wanted to take pictures at a couple polling stations but one of the security guards with a machine gun would have come over and stomped my camera into the ground. Apparently only those with legitimate press passes are allowed to take photos. Lame. This is a restaurant where I’ve eaten twice. The food isn’t great but I like the building. As I said, Mombasa is basically a...

The life and tales of Audhild. A blog about re-entering Norway, facing the culture and updates about my life. The beginning of the end? I actually wanted to avoid doing this. But I have come to termes with the fact that it is unavoidable. Yesterday was the 7th of March. And for me, this marked the beginning of the end. With only one month left in Kenya, the country that has become my second home, it is time to look back and reflect on my time in Nakuru. Making Mandazi, f.v Steve and me. When we prepare f...

Sunday, August 12, 2007. At the risk of disrupting narrative flow, I'd like to call attention to a pair of powerhouse retrospectives featured in the Sunday NY Times.
