The six dates on the checkout card are so close together in time, between March 6 and August 7, that it may have been the same person reading the book, renewing it when due but maybe not: it is a slim book, 181 pages, and is a biography of sorts of Victorine Meurent, the lesbian model Eduard Manet used when painting. A Night At The Opera. He disc...

Two Drops of Ink: A Literary Blog. Writing Advice, grammar, poetry, and prose. December 26, 2016. December 26, 2016. The Agent in the Alley. Jessica sat in the cold, damp alley, her rolled sleeping bag and a flat cardboard box protected her from the ground. She struggled to see the stars in the sky which were overshadowed by streetlights. As instructed, patiently she waited what’s to come. Hey Richards, let’s see what’s going on down here. The two men made their way to Jessica. What are you doing here?

French Silk Pie – Two In a Kitchen
https://twoinakitchen.wordpress.com/2016/06/15/french-silk-pie
Two In a Kitchen. Learn it, Bake it, Screw up, cover up, eat, and repeat. Gosh I love summer. Even in Cincinnati (a.k.a the most humid city in the northern United States.) Last night my family and I sat out on our newly decorated back porch just enjoying each others’ company. We talked and laughed as the sun went down until we could not see anymore. But even better than the conversation and laughter was the pie we ate. Combine the butter, pretzels, graham crackers, and sugar in a small bowl. This pie is ...

Two In a Kitchen. Learn it, Bake it, Screw up, cover up, eat, and repeat. Caprese (Cap-ray-say) Salad. It’s Italian folks. This has to be one of my all-time favorite salads. Perfect tomatoes, soft, fresh mozzarella, sweet basil, and tangy balsamic come together beautifully to make Caprese salads a summer favorite in my family. However, you cannot make this with mediocre ingredients. 9 small Roma tomatoes. 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese. 1 bag or box arugula. 1 large handful fresh basil leaves sliced. You a...

Cantaloupe Soup – Two In a Kitchen
https://twoinakitchen.wordpress.com/2016/07/02/cantaloupe-soup
Two In a Kitchen. Learn it, Bake it, Screw up, cover up, eat, and repeat. Oh my word. I struggle so much with the spelling of “cantaloupe.” I mean why is the “U” even there? Does it serve a purpose? Nope What are we French? Aside from that minor frustration this soup turned out so creamy, crisp, and refreshing. The addition of plain yogurt transforms it from a gazpacho-like watery mess to a smooth, yet still light dish that almost everyone liked. Honestly, with different flavorings this soup could make a...

Two In a Kitchen. Learn it, Bake it, Screw up, cover up, eat, and repeat. Individual Triple Chocolate Cheesecakes. Triple chocolate cheesecake. Whew, these things are good enough to make you sweat! They make a perfect summer dessert for everyone who gets a little tired of fruit everything. I know it is summer and peaches are amazing, but Lordy could we please give fruity desserts a break! What can I say about this dessert? A satisfying, chocolatety, Oreo crust makes a perfect base for the cheesecakes.
