200 Miles From the Citi: 11/01/2008 - 12/01/2008

200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Sunday, November 30, 2008. IN PRAISE OF MIKE TOMLIN. I think I have my NFL equivalent of Terry Francona - a favorite manager/head coach who I just can't root against, because I think they go about things the right way. And it again comes from an unlikely source. I've been bitten by that 'genuine' thing before - I thought Herman Edwards was genuine before he turned into a lying back-stabber. But this seems different.

200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Sunday, June 28, 2009. I was all set to bring you a recap of my second visit to Citi Field, when Francisco Rodriguez walked Mariano Rivera with the bases loaded. I just don't have it in me right now. Maybe I'll get to Citi Field later this week. If I still cared I think I'd cry right now. And then you have the Mets' big-money closer not able to throw 3 strikes past the other team's closer. Nice job, Mets. Fantastic.

200 Miles From the Citi: A NOT-SO-HAPPY RECAP

200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Tuesday, July 07, 2009. My Aunt JoJo was never one to mince words. She spoke her mind on a number of subjects, and lately I've been thinking a lot about her views on my obsession with sports. Why do you care so much? She'd yell at me. (She wasn't angry. She just spoke loudly and passionately.) "You think they care about you? You think [insert athlete here] cares about what you're doing? I resolved to take other things i...

200 Miles From the Citi: METS SWEEP MARLINS
http://johnnymets.blogspot.com/2007/05/mets-sweep-marlins-mets-6-marlins-4-nym.html
200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Sunday, May 27, 2007. Mets 6, Marlins 4 (NYM: 32-17, FLA: 23-27). Is this where the Mets really start running away with things? They are now up by 4-and-a-half games on the Braves.and this isn't like last year.the Braves are actually pretty good this year. And when you consider that the Mets are 3-6 against Atlanta this year.that means they're doing pretty well against everyone else. There were no standout performers on...

200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. RANDOM PREDICTION FOR 2009. Perhaps I mis-titled this segment yesterday. I don't really think these are bold predictions - they're more random predictions. So I'll continue in this new vein to tell you:. The Best Player on the Texas Rangers in 2009 will be Chris Davis. And if you have heard of him, I'm sorry that I missed the boat. Those numbers just caught my eye. Monday, March 30, 2009. So, wi...

200 Miles From the Citi: ONE MORE GO-AROUND
http://johnnymets.blogspot.com/2009/06/one-more-go-around.html
200 Miles From the Citi. Thoughts on the Mets, Jets, MLB, NFL, and sports in general. Thursday, June 18, 2009. I'm sure it hasn't gone unnoticed that it's been hard for me lately to keep up with '200 Miles From the Citi'. Part of this has been a busy home life, but I'm not going to lie - the Mets have been less and less inspiring to me as the season has gone on. It also helped that we had good seats, which is always a better viewing experience at Fenway. As a nice bonus, last night also happened to be th...
