Open Monday-Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm. Closed Sunday and most major state holidays. Please call ahead to confirm hours of operation, 919-733-4994. Admission is free though donations are welcome and appreciated. Saturday: 11 am and 2 pm. Bi-Annual Black Tie Gala. The Foundation sponsors an exciting gala every two years in the Capitol and on Union Square featuring dancing, dinner and a silent auction. The funds raised are dedicated to the educational and ongoing restoration programs prioritized by staff and Foundation committees. Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Every year the Governor, accompanied by children, lights the State Christmas Tree on Union Square. This event is carried live on television across the state. Pillars of the Capitol.
