Neighbourhood Diaries Exhibition | Nostalgia for the Future
https://nostalgiaforthefuture.wordpress.com/2010/06/14/neighbourhood-diaries-exhibition
Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. June 14, 2010 3 Comments. A few weeks ago I went with SP to Harbourfront. While we were there, I got to see something that M told me about, that he and SP have visited twice. It’s an exhibition of children’s art called “Neighbourhood Diaries: Stories from where I live”. I think it’s cool for her to see other children’s art displayed in a formal way. Marla McLean, Atelierista. June 20, 2010 at 4:13 pm. Wish there was more of this around.

Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. An idea and dream of love becoming real. October 4, 2013 Comments Off on An idea and dream of love becoming real. I haven’t written any poetry for a long time, but I wrote this about SP the other day. The more time i spend with you. The more i love you. But that’s because you are. Teaching me to love. Through caring for you. I’ve begun to see the long game. How the foundational arc of trust. Is built by showing up every day. As i seek to look beyond.

Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. The Language of Art. September 16, 2010 2 Comments. We are doing a book study in my online Reggio discussion group. This is the book we are focussing on: The Language of Art by Ann Pelo. July 21, 2010 4 Comments. I haven’t been able to find a lot of time or opportunity to blog in the last week or two. So many things to write about but one thing I wanted to acknowledge is that I got a Sunshine Award from Martianne at Training Happy Hearts. I’ve been...

Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. I must start to write again. May 23, 2012 Comments Off on I must start to write again. That would make a good future blog post – the benefits of homeschooling and living intergenerationally). Sudden realization: I’m writing this post because I can’t sleep. I barely used to sleep! I do sleep now! And mostly normal hours! There are a few things I want to write about, now that I’ve made a pact with myself to start writing again:. Something about SP’s ...

Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. Farmer’s Market Days. May 31, 2012 Comments Off on Farmer’s Market Days. Yesterday we met up with our homeschooling friends at a weekly farmer’s market. Now that the weather is good, we go to two different markets and a community dinner each week, and SP gets a chance to play with other homeschooled children there. It touched my heart so much! Last month, at a different farmer’s market (one that the kids are more familiar with, because they have be...

bakers and astronauts: Weekend Links 2.28.14
http://bakersandastronauts.blogspot.com/2014/02/weekend-links-22814.html
Weekend Links 2.28.14. This was a long, but invigorating week! I had some difficult times in the classroom, but even after a hard day, I find myself researching, reading and writing about early childhood into the wee hours of the morning. I described myself as a "child development nerd" in an email to a parent this morning, and I don't know if there has ever been a statement so true. Check out some links for your weekend, after the jump! This photo has been a real source of inspiration for me as I think ...
chronicles of zev: a post-olympic return to tent city
http://www.chroniclesofzev.com/2010/03/post-olympic-return-to-tent-city.html
Monday, March 8, 2010. A post-olympic return to tent city. Went to tent city today. I hadn't been there for a while and wanted to see how things were doing post-olympics. It certainly is a different place. A more sparse crowd populates the lot and the large swinging main gate was pinned shut. i entered through a much more modest door in the middle of the fence. I joined a group of homeless folk on chairs in a circle around a recently extinguished fire. it was about 11:30 am. The fellow who had been talki...

bakers and astronauts: 11 Months
http://bakersandastronauts.blogspot.com/2015/03/11-months.html
A big hello to anyone who came here after seeing me at NAEA. I always love meeting other teachers who are passionate about early childhood, process-focused play, materials, and documentation. Carpet at the NOLA Convention Center rivals airport carpeting. I mentioned in the presentation that this blog has been highly neglected for 6 months; I was horrified to log on and see that I have not posted in 11 months. I truly plan to be in this space more often. Finland throws out subjects. Book By Its Cover.

Homegrown on Siskiwit: Sailing Graduation
http://homegrownonsiskiwit.blogspot.com/2011/07/sailing-graduation.html
Monday, July 25, 2011. This post is really overdue, but I thought I would bring this series to an end. It was a crazy week shuttling the three kids into Washburn every day. There were three overnights involved, but the kids had a heck of a good time. Of course, the last day ended with no wind. Here they are on the water, sails up, waiting to catch a gust. That's Charlotte, second to the right with the multi colored sail. Here are three friends who had a great time sailing together. Not Going To ISTE?

Homegrown on Siskiwit: Tying Knots: Day Two of Beginning Sailing
http://homegrownonsiskiwit.blogspot.com/2011/07/tying-knots-day-two-of-beginning.html
Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Tying Knots: Day Two of Beginning Sailing. Today the class focused on learning to tie some essential knots. One that we use both in rock climbing and sailing is the Bowline, not to be confused with "bowling" which Piper likes to call it. After knot tying, the kids got out on the water. Charlotte is disassembling her boat. At home, she worked at tying that Bowline over and over and over again. North Coast Community Sailing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Not Going To ISTE?

Along the way we drove by our 80 year old neighbors and saw an awesome sight. While I used the saw, the kids and Angie dragged away the slash and rolled the chunks into a pile. Work completed we headed home to prepare for family fun night at Herbster. Posted using BlogPress from my iPad. Links to this post.

Nostalgia for the Future. A pedagogy of listening. January 7, 2018 Comments Off on 12. SP turns 13 in a month so I thought I’d better write a sum-up blogpost about 12. Before it’s gone! It’s winter holidays and we saw family on Christmas Eve but did Christmas proper with the close unschooler family friends we’ve been doing it with for the past several years.
