The Caffeinated Engine Driver: The Minimalist Look
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-minimalist-look.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Which is actually a slightly different Hudson-Hunslet design). While it all fits nicely, I'm not convinced it's the best cab design. I think of it as the sunhat of cabs; it will keep the sun off but if there is any rain you're still going to get very wet and miserable. Now I know the cutout works though I can have a look at a more enclosed cab. Labels: 24hp Hudson-Hunslet Diesel. August 13, 2015 at 8:28 PM. August 13, 2015 at 8:34 PM. Iain Robinso...

The Caffeinated Engine Driver: September 2014
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Friday, September 26, 2014. The Long Road To The Rhosydd Rubbish Tip. This is the fourth post on building a Rhosydd quarry rubbish wagon since I started back in June, but as you can see I've now completed the model. If you remember the first step. Was to design the 3D printed underframe and figure out how to build the top half from sheet brass. The second step. Was adding all those rivets before a quick third post. Tuesday, September 23, 2014. So how did I turn the rather t...

The Caffeinated Engine Driver: November 2014
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Saturday, November 22, 2014. Having been side tracked by building some OO9 gauge track, I've finally gone back and painted the two N gauge sheds built from the Severn Models kit. Both models involved me trying a new technique in their painting. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. While I was more than happy with my first attempt at track building. Clearly it needed painting as sleepers are never copper coloured and the rail is never that shiny. Amazingl...

The Caffeinated Engine Driver: March 2015
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Saturday, March 28, 2015. White or Black Underwear? In the comments to yesterdays post. Paul mentioned that he uses a white undercoat when painting figures to avoid overly darkening the topcoat of paint. As I had a few spare figures laying around I thought I'd paint one in exactly the same way as yesterday but with a white undercoat. Friday, March 27, 2015. As I've mentioned before. As I said before the close up photo is very unflattering but when viewed from a sensible dis...

The Caffeinated Engine Driver: June 2015
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Sunday, June 28, 2015. 3D Printed Wagons Printed in 2D. Some of you might remember that back in October last year I blogged about. The issue was actually issued back at the end of April, but unfortunately due to a mistake at the printers, and Bob's untimely death, it has taken a while before I finally got my subscription copy. It's strange seeing the article in print as a few editorial changes have been made to it; not all of which I would necessarily agree with. Keighley a...

The Caffeinated Engine Driver: Peaty Water: Take 2
http://caffeine-train.blogspot.com/2015/08/peaty-water-take-2.html
The Caffeinated Engine Driver. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Peaty Water: Take 2. With adding peat brown ink to Woodland Scenics Realistic Water looked promising, the more I looked at the mockup I made. The less convinced by the colour I was. Where the water was thin it was very purple, and even the deeper batches showed shades of purple in certain lights. Now the colour of peaty water can vary a lot, but it's never purple, so a rethink was needed. Along with a new approach to the water. It is looking good.

SLOTTY SALAD: January 2011
http://slottysalad.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Robin Briggs in New Zealand sent me some more photos of his Kieft that he's been working on. It's coming together nicely now and the addition of a driver really brings it to life. I have yet to try it on the track, but if it's anything like the other two diecasts I've done, it won't be extremely fast, but will have that feeling of weight and inertia that makes it interesting to drive. Right then, now I'll start back on the Monaco, and the D-Type. Saturday, January 22, 2011.

Sunday, June 22, 2014. OB Transporter with decals. Here's the OB Transporter with the decals added. As a companion to this model, I have recently recieved from Iain a 1/32 ERF showmans generator similar to the one shown at the bottom of the page, which I will be decorating and trying to work out how to incorporate it into a slot track setting. Maybe providing power to a funfair ride for kids at the track? OB Transporter with decals. GP MINIATURES Excellent resin slot kits. RESIN CASTING FOR DUMMIES!

Monday, August 8, 2011. SHORTNOSE D-TYPE Current Project. Http:/ slottysalad.blogspot.com/2009/04/minialuxe-d-type.html. I originally gave this shell to Charles Lawrence out in Seattle, but he kindly returned it when I asked him if I could have a go at making something decent of it. I was going to just straighten out the shell, but I think I've gone a little bit further than that now! Sunday, August 7, 2011. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). SHORTNOSE D-TYPE Current Project.
