One year, one world, one best friend, one hell of a trip. Monday, June 15, 2009. Goodbye Oz, hello Africa! In Airlie Beach. We would hardly call their strip of sand a beach but luckily our campground had a great pool and our trip ended up being switched a day early as we had to switch boats so it all turned out fine. Of course I bawled my eyes out having to say goodbye to Laura as we only see one another every three years, but the thought of landing in Africa in two days slapped me out of it. AFRICA!

Our Nomad adventure overland tour ended just yesterday with a 19 hour bus ride from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe through Botswana to Johannesburg, South Africa. What I've learned so far. 1) Thai message is a pleasant and confusing mix of pain torture and pure bliss. 2) Bangkok is one hot, loud, noisy mess of a place but it is hard not to love. 3) Tuk Tuks in fact don't tip despite going around a sharp curve at 50mph. 4) Elephants are suprisingly calm in crowds. Of rich and poor, complete shambles mixed beautiful french architecture and palaces, begging amputees and dirty children amongst stoic citrus draped monks, and enough exhaust and dirt inhalation to knock about a year off your life.
