Rambling with me: September 2014

http://ramblingwithme.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2014. ANOTHER UNEXPECTED VISITOR AND SOME MORE SPRING. What do you do when you get into the shower, you are wet all over and you see you have a huuuuge spider very, very close to your head! Well, no one is near, no knight in shining armour, and you are all wet. Well, I just decided I would finish my shower! And do you see the gap in behind him, I'm sure it was a him he was soooo big, he decided he needed to hide from the sight of the naked me! Thursday, September 25, 2014. And then ...

Rambling with me: WHITE

http://ramblingwithme.blogspot.com/2014/12/white.html

Thursday, December 4, 2014. I was just browsing through photos thinking I hadn't been in blog land for a little while so looking for some inspiration found a theme of WHITE. As our days are lengthening and becoming hotter I see so many beautiful snow photos, stunning snow photos and I sigh for the cooler weather. I do know that for many the snow becomes very tedious but from this little corner in Australia I'm rather envious! Gardenias.such a favourite! Quince flowers, so delicate and sweet. I'm slowly g...

Rambling with me: MY NZ HOLIDAY

http://ramblingwithme.blogspot.com/2015/06/my-nz-holiday.html

Monday, June 8, 2015. Once again time is flying, bundled up with my family here, embedded as they say in all the everyday happenings that normally I only hear about. I don't need entertaining or to be taken to interesting places, just being here is more than enough. I look out onto this from my bed each morning, very easy to sit in bed with my cups of tea and watch the sky light up through the last of the Autumn leaves, birds flitting and chatting a few feet from me. Archie had a 'mental health' day on F...

Rambling with me: June 2014

http://ramblingwithme.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 18, 2014. SOMETHING FINISHED AT LAST. I'm starting to see a little progress with my creativity, not much but some! I've finished a sketchy painting, a watercolour of quinces that I began ages ago. It has sat there on my bench, with lots of fifteen minutes of glazing going on to get the depth of colour I wanted. It is a good feeling when you think, that is enough. A birthday card or two for my June birthday friends. Just one for you. And a beanie for a wee little girl, actually one of three.

Working in the same manner as happens with papier mâché. I've been getting myself into my work corner, in the cold laundry, whenever I can find a few moments. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. I've often picked up a pen and scribbled, just allowing the pen to go wherever it and whenever but I've never valued these scribbles as anything other than a loose suggestion of a subject. Lately I've been looking at them with different eyes and I'm enjoying the effect with paint thrown on top. Cropping, is there such a word, helped this version of my quinces, lemons if you prefer! A gardenia from the amazing bush here that just keeps on keeping on. What do you think? Quinces f...

Sunday, April 26, 2015. SOME BITS AND PIECES, INCLUDING A TADAH MOMENT! An at last finished jumper! For the 4 year old J. I was worried that it wouldn't fit him after 18 months of knitting, in very much fits and starts. Lastnight I finished sewing ll those ends from all those stripes and breathed a huge sigh of relief! I have been doing other projects in between knits and now can get going in earnest with my already begun ripple rug. Hope you're all having a happy weekend. Friday, April 17, 2015. The wea...

Rambling with me: November 2014

http://ramblingwithme.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 20, 2014. Today I made the pudding for our family Christmas, one of my beginning steps to being a bit organised. The recipe I always use was given to me years ago by a school mother who was a wonderful cook and in fact catered as a business. It is so simple to make and really is delicious, bringing the fruit to the boil and letting it cool before adding the final ingredients. And don't die of shock. 2 oz mixed peel.I don't use because none of us like them! 4 oz chopped dates. Gram pack...

Extraordinary Travels of an Ordinary Couple

Extraordinary Travels of an Ordinary Couple. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Three Perfect Days in Santa Barbara. Three perfect days in. Seventy nine degree weather in December. A calm and tranquil blue ocean, lapping gently against the sandy shoreline. The little birds move constantly, to and fro, heads bobbing up and down as they pick at the sand and yet I find the spectacle strangely calming and I breathe deeply, inhaling the delicious scents of the ocean air. Three perfect days in. But it wasn't just the...

Posted on November 30, 2009. Sometimes the best memories are hazy, fuzzy, patched-together anecdotes of last night’s party. Sometimes you don’t need to remember exactly what happened, just that it was worth remembering … and that it was legendary. Go ahead and cut loose, you deserve it. Posted on November 20, 2009.

Ordinary Cuisine

Let's see if we can make something extraordinary. Monday, February 28, 2011. I also found this recipe in Taste of Home. I didn’t have like half of the ingredients though, so I just made some stuff up. Here’s what I did…. 1 cup cubed cooked chicken (I used canned chicken – my go to chicken! 1/2 to 1 cup of your fave pasta sauce (I started with 1/2 and added until I liked the amount). 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (swiss would be good too). 12 frozen bread dough dinner rolls, thawed. Which I did.).
