paying for my raising: October 2014
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2014. I’m feeling like waxing (a little) poetic tonight. I’ll apologize in advance … but keep writing anyway. The days are marching by faster and faster. Sometimes, it seems that all I can do is think in clichés about how fast kids grow up and how quickly time marches on. I don’t think I can keep up with the changes in my children. My sweet friend (and “secret twin”) Marie informed me that it has to do with my age … hmm, just what I wanted to hear. Saturday, October 11, 2014. This ki...

paying for my raising: finding focus
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2015/07/finding-focus.html
Friday, July 3, 2015. A soapbox for another day. How many times have I done just that? Times when I am beginning to feel overwhelmed and before I even ask, Jesus comes to me with words of comfort – a familiar scripture that “pops” into my head or the words of a hymn that I begin to sing without even knowing why – and yet I question, “Lord, is this you? 8221; And that is just what he did. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? I am so thankful that I serve a Savior who will not give up on me, even...

paying for my raising: September 2014
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 22, 2014. This fall begins our 11. Year as a homeschooling family. It has been quite a journey. One with more ups and downs than I care to remember. I’m sure that it is unnecessary to say that reality is. Just a wee bit different. Just for the record, I am okay with that. God called us to it and confirmed it even before Ronnie and I were married. I firmly believe that God designed us for community. Just like a Christian cannot thrive without a church family, I believe that homeschoo...

http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2015/06/vbs-2016-1.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Vbs 2015 . #1. I’ve been scrolling through old blog posts tonight and oh, what fun it is to see what we were up to back in the good old days! Among those old memories, I found this post about what may have been the first year my kids went to VBS with their homeschool friends. I had completely forgotten about this post until tonight…. June 14, 2010 ( full post here. Kids, you may ask? The answer to that question is why I am feeling a little guilty. Just drinking in the silence!

paying for my raising: feeling a little guilty
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2010/06/feeling-little-guilty.html
Monday, June 14, 2010. Feeling a little guilty. Kids, you may ask? The answer to that question is why I am feeling a little guilty. This morning, I dropped all three kids off at another local church for Vacation Bible School. The older kids were invited by some of our homeschool friends who attend the church, so I don't feel too bad about them. D, on the other hand, is just going because the older kids went and because I thought a week of mornings to myself might. Okay, that is a giant understatement!

paying for my raising: November 2013
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 1, 2013. An exercise in thankfulness. Ah, November is finally here! I'm not a big fan of the end of October, so I am always happy to see November arrive and the focus shift to the happy things of fall. This year, in preparation for Thanksgiving, I want to help my children really think about the things for which they are thankful. In other words, I don't want them just to say the same things we talk about every year, I want them to dig deeper and see if they can expand their lists. He def...

I am thinking about and praying for…. A couple of friends who are going through tough times right now. I am thankful…. That Daniel chose not to play baseball this year. I miss it (a lot! But with the older kids in two plays, with rehearsal several nights a week, it would just be too much! I am wearing…. An Operation Christmas Child t-shirt.

paying for my raising: May 2015
http://payingformyraising.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. It isn't your story. For the past several months, our homeschool drama group has been working on the musical Pilgrim. Which is an adaptation of the book Pilgrim’s Progress. This production has been several years in the making – since our drama director found the play and has been waiting for her daughter to be old enough to play Christian. I have no doubt that God has been, in her words, staying her hand,. Read the book that is. Lora in her role as Obstinate … she plays a pre...
