Our Years in Green: September 2010

http://ouryearsingreen.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Our Years in Green. Experiences of an American family living in Ireland. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Today is cleaning day. And to make it more fun for myself I like to turn on the music and dance like Hank Azaria in The Birdcage. Today as I swept and the Baby followed me around with the dustpan, the Chieftains. Began to play. And their resonant fiddles and Gaelic rhythm pulled me in, transported me to another place, blew sound through the tiny hollow left from leaving Ireland. But what is also true is...

Our Years in Green: Night Music

http://ouryearsingreen.blogspot.com/2010/03/night-music.html

Our Years in Green. Experiences of an American family living in Ireland. Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Have been treating us to an evening symphony. It's been many years since I've lived far enough from people populated areas to enjoy nature's sounds. For being so quiet, it's really quite loud. I love the songs of the birds, the neighing of the horse next door, have even gotten used to Monsieur Coq and his hourly reveille and now the frogs have begun their courtship rituals. March 24, 2010. Our Years in Green: October 2009

http://ouryearsingreen.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Our Years in Green. Experiences of an American family living in Ireland. Friday, October 30, 2009. When you're drunk you're 'locked'. And when you go out 'on the piss' you're having a 'session'. We stayed in the restaurant until they asked us to go downstairs to the pub. We stayed in the pub until they asked us to go outside to the late night bar. And we stayed there until they turned on all the lights and they asked us to go home. When we were in the pub portion of our evening they locked the front door...

Our Years in Green: Rose Colored Glasses

http://ouryearsingreen.blogspot.com/2010/03/rose-colored-glasses.html

Our Years in Green. Experiences of an American family living in Ireland. Thursday, March 11, 2010. When you're somewhere new there are so many things to figure out. Even in English it can be challenging to know the norms and customs of a place—which is the best grocery store, where's the post office, where do you find a bike rack for the car? Now put all this in French and it becomes even more challenging and, to me, more exciting and fun. Well, on a good day. Je voudrais un timbre, s'il vous plait.

Our year on the farm

Our year on the farm. Sunday, August 2, 2009. Moving Back To the City. Since I left the farm a couple weeks ago I have really been seeing alot more things that some how relate to farming. We have alot more farms, cows and tractors in the south that I have never noticed before. I have really missed Massachusetts and can't wait to go back in September for my Mom's graduation. The farm taught me more about my life and what I want to do with it. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. I wonder if the lent that comes out ...

Our Year Outdoors

Sunday, May 4, 2014. Suwannee River Overnight Paddle. State Parks visited: 78. The last time we were on the Suwannee River was New Years' Day a few years ago, and it was high time for a return visit. Chris suggested an overnight paddle trip, and so we planned it for the weekend before Thanksgiving. Olivia ended up staying with my parents for the weekend, so it was just Chris, Xandra, Rob, and me. Not sure if you can see the orange blaze in the background there, but that's a section of the Florida Trail.

Our Year Review

Welcome to our Review of 2011. This 12 part summary of our year allows family and friends (those who are interested) find out what we have been up to. It's also nice for myself and Mrs K/C/KC to look at it in future and remind ourselves of how our children have grown. January was a relatively quiet month for us, although a few things stand out from memory. Firstly, Little T lost her first tooth (she was particularly excited as she was the first in her school year to lose one! The month of March included ...

Wonder Years

Apr 28, 2014. Cherry blossoms and Joy. I can't get over these glorious cherry blossoms. They are full-skirted, unabashed, and perfectly pink. When I see them I am filled with so much joy! Today I finally brought out my camera to document this happy scene and I noticed that the blossoms were fading. The wind, that blows fiercely, has stripped away so many blossoms. And so it goes. This exquisite beauty and joy is fleeting. Lately, I have been lingering in family moments a little longer. Links to this post.

Our Year Without

Trying to live a leaner life. We spend too much on toys, clothes, food, etc. Hopefully this will help us get our act in gear! Saturday, March 7, 2009. I feel myself being pulled to the dark side! I have been so darn busy this week that I haven't had time to go grocery shopping. Because of that we've been eating out. It needs to stop. I need to buy some food and start cooking again. I'm just not sure when in the heck I'm going to have time to do that! I really need my life to settle down. REALLY! I really...
