This is our first stab at a 50 lbs thrust chamber. Propane and oxygen, steel chamber, stainless steel injector, graphite nozzle, direct spark ignition, with excess fuel injected along walls to keep them cool. Peak will be a VTVL test bed for TVC, guidance and telemetry in a rocket environment. We'll use OTS tanks (CO2) and valves. Electronics, Test stand design. ELECTRONICS - SOLENOID DRIVER: We burned out a power supply in our First Fire testing because there wasn't any back EMF suppression on the solenioid coils. My thanks to Paul Breed. For kindly suggesting this. I wanted something that would integrate into the vehicle control system. Here's an image, and description, of our test stand:. TEST STAND DESCRIPTION: Test stand is a 1/4" thick aluminum plate, about 16" x 24", on a wheeled stand. At upper left (11 o'clock) is 12 VDC power supply. Had a dedicated 50w 12vdc switcher, but it blew out during testing. The 2 solenoids take about 1 amp each and the igniter takes about 2 amps.
