The car was first raced in 1960 at the US nationals at Detroit Dragway in MI. The 1940 Bee-Line Willys won the A/Gas class at the US nationals in 1960. In 1960 The Bee-Line Willys ran a 394CI Oldsmobile Motor with B &M hydro Trans. In 1961 Al installed a 6:71 GMC Blower with a Hilborn 4-Port Injection Unit.

Phil Firesuit Pofahl, 70, of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center. Born in Kenosha Dec. 28, 1940, the son of the late Ralph and Luella (Fincannon) Pofahl. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, educated in local schools. From 1963 until 1969 Phil was in the Air National Guard. Serving in the 128th Air Refueling Group. Web Site Updates (4).

Nostalgia Gassers Racing Association. Drag Racing – The Way It Was in the '60's. The Little Engine That Could. Originally owned and raced by Rydell, Hope and Lang. Was raced and based out of Canada and the Dakota’s. Held two NHRA records. Won several Gas class races, 1969 September Indy, 1969 Dallas Nationals, 1969 Winternationals, and the 1969 U S Nationals. Several Canadian racers have looked at the car, and have said it really could be the original, but over the years of lost history, one never knows.
