Thursday, March 31, 2011. The Only Way to Combat Falsehood is to Tell the Truth": YouTube and Diplomacy. Was put on YouTube, and although it is long for a YouTube clip, it is very interesting and definitely worth watching. This project definitely brings up new questions and shows the evolution of media. It is a good way of campaigning (or in this case, practicing diplomacy) because the people feel like you are talking directly to them, and answering their. Friday, March 25, 2011. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Pop Ups and Internet Ads: Effective Political Tools? As I was searching for something to post about this week, a pop up ad came up, as seen here:. I clicked on the "Vote Here Now" to see where it would take me (although usually I wouldn't do this pop ups for fear of viruses attacking my precious macbook), and this is the link it goes to: http:/ www.newsmax.com/surveys/Repeal-Obamacare/Repeal-Obama/id/4/kw/America/? HaTikshoret ViHaPolitica: News or Citizens: Which One Do We Value More?
http://tikshoretvipolitica.blogspot.com/2011/03/news-or-citizens-which-one-do-we-value.html
Thursday, March 17, 2011. News or Citizens: Which One Do We Value More? Four NY Times reporters are missing in Libya. Read the full story here. This is not the first time reporters have gone missing or have been harmed, as the article linked above mentions. However, it is important to address some of the issues and questions that arise from this situation. In addition, it doesn't really seem feasible. Even if they got these four reporters, there are hundreds more from around the world! A good question...

Media and Politics: Bloggers as.....Slaves?
http://nsjaphet.blogspot.com/2011/04/bloggers-asslaves.html
Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Seems like in the new age of bloggers being used as an important tool of politics, some thorny questions of digital rights are coming up. Check this story out: http:/ mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/12/huffington-post-is-target-of-suit-on-behalf-of-bloggers/? The question that is really raised here, however, is what rights do bloggers have? Are they considered workers in the same sense of a traditional 9-5 job? Are they writers or authors like James Patterson or JK Rowling?

Media & Politics in 2011: "Home Connections"
http://sternmediapolitics.blogspot.com/2011/03/home-connections.html
Media and Politics in 2011. Saturday, March 5, 2011. Take a look at this very powerful video from The New York Times website called "Home Connections". Do you think the pros override the cons or vice versa? Pictured here is a solider in Afghanistan. Because of Skype, this solider in Afghanistan coached his wife through childbirth and was "there" to "meet" his daughter. William D. Adler. March 6, 2011 at 9:21 AM. Great find. Im inclined to think this is a good thing, but its clearly a tricky subject.

Friday, February 25, 2011. TV Shows and Politics. In this course, we often talk about how the media- journalism, radio and TV news - affect politics and politicians. However, what about TV Shows, that is, fictional. Stories. Do these affect politics? When Obama was elected, I had this sneaking suspicion (and I'm sure I'm not that only one) that the show '24,' had something to do with it. For it's first 3(? Do you think it alters their opinions on social and governmental issues? Tuesday, February 22, 2011.

Media & Politics in 2011: Keeping Promises
http://sternmediapolitics.blogspot.com/2011/05/keeping-promises.html
Media and Politics in 2011. Thursday, May 5, 2011. There is a phrase "don't make a promise that you can't keep". Obama kept his promise. During his Presidential campaign he told the world that he would kill Osama Bin Laden and that he did. Now, in his next campaign he can say that he did just that. The New York Times put out a great video. That illustrates the ramifications that Osama's death has on the 2012 elections. May 6, 2011 at 11:01 AM. May 6, 2011 at 3:02 PM.
