Mary Mason. B. A. In early records Easton in Gordano was known as Estone but for many centuries the village has also been known as St. George. The village church being dedicated to St. George. Walton in Gordano Castle. During the 18th Century smuggling was prevalent in the Bristol Channel. In 1755 an excise officer was attacked after he stopped a farm cart which was carrying brandy near Weston in Gordano. It was reported that the Gordano people were heavily involved in smuggling.
