East 2nd and Grand Parking Garage. East 2nd Street and Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309. The City of Des Moines owns the surface parking lot in the East Village across Robert D. Ray Drive from City Hall, bordered by East Grand Avenue, East Locust Street, and East 2nd Street. 101 East Grand Parking, LLC (Developer) will be developing a mixed use project on this site and are proposing a mix of housing, retail, office, and structured parking. The Developer’s Contractor started construction in May 2016.

Grand Avenue Bridge Replacement. Grand Avenue over Des Moines River Bridge. The Grand Avenue Bridge was constructed in 1918 and last rehabilitated in 1968. The structurally deficient, scour-critical bridge has experienced an increase in the rate and the magnitude of deterioration over the years. Components of the bridge are severely deteriorated, resulting in significant concrete spalling, cracking, and delamination. The existing bridge will be completely removed and replaced. June 2016 - IDOT Bidding.

400 Robert D Ray Drive, Des Moines, IA 50309. Historic Des Moines City Hall, located at 400 Robert D. Ray Drive, is under renovation. The construction is necessary to install modern heating, cooling, and sprinkler systems while preserving the historic character of the building. The project is expected to take 12 to 18 months. The Locust Street Bridge, constructed in 1909, is the oldest concrete arch bridge in the Civic Center Historic District (CCHD). The bridge was rehabilitated in 1967 and is classified as a non-contributing structure of the CCHD (National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), 1988).Some Description. Summer 2018 - IDOT Bidding.
