questionthevalueofblogs

Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Exactly 6 months ago today, I took the picture above of the red zinnia, surrounded by lush greenery. I didn't bother, I like it fine. Sorry to digress a bit there. Snow is beautiful, the long low rays of the sun in winter can add magic to a picture. Beauty is not enough. How is one to stay in touch with living things when they are snug, covered with snow and inaccessible, for the most part. To illustrate the loveliness of winter, I illustrate with a photo taken yesterday:.

questionthevalueofblogs: May 2007

http://www.questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 31, 2007. Last night, my brother-in-law called to say that my mother-in law is dying. So tomorrow the 2 of us, accompanied by our faithful labrador retriever, will get in the car and drive 5 or so hours to spend some time with her and the family. There are lots of issues here with family, but I'm mostly leaving those out. Everybody has issues. If you're interested in issues, watch. I'm considering what books to pack. For me, that is a first line of coping. Which is a memoir of her grief?

Thursday, May 24, 2007. Dennis Lehane: prayers for rain. Trying to go from front to back:. Translated by Robert Fitzgerald. The Children of Hurin. By Tolkien and son. The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide. By Douglas Adams (5 volumes in One Joyous Binding of Bounteousness). By Graham Green (because I just finished The Power and the Glory, and loved it). Reading in small servings. Poetry and spiritual stuff:. The Miracle of Mindfulness. In exile, who knows? Do I need to be delivered from distraction? If I was d...

Poor Richard's Daughter: October 2007

http://poorrichardsdaughter.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

I’m from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, hence the Ben Franklin connection (e.g. Poor Richard’s Almanac). Even if it’s no longer technically true, I, along with many other women, perhaps, perpetually feel like someone’s daughter. And my dad’s name really was Richard. Someone once referred to me(affectionately, I think) as a real "Northeast" kind of woman. I suppose that's true. My favorite thing to write is creative nonfiction. View my complete profile. The World as a Construction of my Liberal Fantasy. May 14, 2015. By Reverend Russell Rathbun. Easter 7, Year B, By Russell Rathbun. The World as a Construction of my Liberal Fantasy. John doesn’t do the preacher any favors here. Most folks won’t make it through the convoluted, seemingly repetitive Scripture Reading, let alone still be paying attention when it is time for the sermon. The word world occurs thirteen times between verses 6-19, which is an average of once per verse. And yet, with all thos...

question the woo | do it do it do it

Do it do it do it. August 10, 2015. August 10, 2015. This might be one of my favorite forms of woo. Because when I first heard about it, I honestly thought the person was making it up to screw with me. There was no way that this could. Let’s review what it is (or what it claims to be).
