Monday, February 14, 2011. For breakfast on Valentine's Day before but since Jordan's skin is doing so well by not eating grains, I had to think of something else. I made an omelet which I then cut out using a heart-shaped cookie cutter. For Jordan, the plate was arranged like this. For Warren, I didn't think he'd want 'the face' so his was like this. Cullen wasn't feeling great and egg isn't his favorite food right now (he gags! And so he had cereal for breakfast but I packed him a Valentine's lunch.

Friday, December 24, 2010. Its Christmas Eve. We had a later start and made our way to Evergreen, a small town in the mountains (a town we thought of moving to once). We took the Radomskys on a tour of Millionaire's Row where the houses are big and stunning. This is how Campbell started out. His gloves and coat came off within a few minutes of being on the ice. That child has a furnace burning inside of him! There were many yelps and little screams coming from Charlie. Charlie watched with a careful eye ...

Sunday, October 31, 2010. Since we don't like the whole Halloween holiday, we have always enjoyed an alternative to 'trick-or-treating'. Many churches have adopted this holiday as an outreach event, inviting kids from the neighborhood to enjoy a free and safe evening of games, food and of course, candy. This is our second year at Calvary Chapel and we enjoyed last year's Fall Festival. We donated our bag of candy before entering the church building and the boys set to work on the games.

Monday, January 3, 2011. My new favorite household item is my Marmite clock (a gift from Charlie and the High Priest). The clock is a reminder of one of my favorite breakfast/snack spreads and whenever I look at the clock, I'm transported back to my primary (elementary/middle) school days. I had Marmite sandwiches for lunch many times during those awkward years. Holes aren't good because it means less Marmite and fewer carbs. But when you're at the end of the loaf, holes are OK. Once you have your bread ...

Monday, November 15, 2010. Our fence was in desperate need of repair and paint. It has been gray for years and the Cottonwood tree on the side of the house has been growing into the fence, warping it and making a mess of it. We didn't go away this fall break so we tackled the fence instead. Everyone was decked out in painting clothes, paintbrushes, rollers and if you're Cullen - the all essential cowboy hat. The bleeding, infections and near amputations that followed didn't get my any sympathy from Warren.

Saturday, November 27, 2010. Turkey Day - Down to Pagosa. The drive down to Pagosa Springs is always lovely. Its the end of Autumn in Colorado and although there are spots of green grass in places, most of the fields and valley have turned brown. I love spotting the cows in the fields with frost on their backs, all turned towards the sun to try and get warm. Poor cows. Todd is stuck with getting the 'innards' out. What good friends they are - sparing me from gooey messy herb butter. Before the turkey goe...

Saturday, March 5, 2011. ACT 1: While living in South Africa you wouldn't have caught me dead in a thrift store. No way. A thrift store in my homeland was (and maybe still is) a place where dead people's clothing go. Only the poor people shopped at thrift stores and the stores themselves were dank and dark, smelly and pretty nasty. I was surprised that the clothes are usually in great shape with minimal wear and some clothing was kind of funky.the kind I envy while browsing in boutiques. Namely underwear...

Saturday, January 29, 2011. We bought a Ranch. Well, actually we bought THREE because we couldn't decide on one! Because I am a gourmet chef.soon! 8 fireplaces and 8 outside decks. This house was clearly built for me). Reclaimed red oak and sandstone flooring. 100 yr old wood beams reclaimed from a barn in Iowa. I've always wanted to drive through something like this on the way to my homestead. It says 'grand', it says 'this is ours'. Look at that driveway! The pond is for Warren, the mountain is for me.

Saturday, February 5, 2011. This morning started out pretty warm. I even went for a. We had to run a few errands in the afternoon after dropping Jordan at his friend's house. Driving out our neighborhood we were doused with 'snail' which Warren coined as the word for a combo of snow and hail. The 'snail' quickly turned to sleet which turned to fat flakes that looked like ash falling from the sky. Warren had the camera while I drove so he took a few shots out the window. Ice on the windscreen. I was alrea...
