Dragon Scales: August 2015

Wednesday, 5 August 2015. What's In A Name. A rose by any other name might smell as sweet (though I am not sure Romeo would have smelled all that sweet what with all the running around and so on he did, no matter what he was called), but our Dragon painting needs a. My husband wants to call this painting 'Bob', which is, of course, a classic which must be seriously considered. However, if you have a different, less Bob-related name, then wander over to the Random Writers Facebook page. Links to this post.

Dragon Scales: July 2014

Friday, 25 July 2014. Meant I could at least email and tell someone. A large part of me still does not believe I have left. A friend who has left her place of work twice now says she still feels she works there. Then again, my mum has often said she still keeps thinking she is not a grown-up and that she can't understand how she has two kids in their 30s, so it is not just a phenomenon related to leaving jobs. Website. Pop over and check it out. Links to this post. Thursday, 24 July 2014. So far, not wor...

Dragon Scales: June 2014
http://shellbromley.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 13 June 2014. What's In A Name? Some of us choose our own names in life, but for most people (of my acquaintance, at least) our names are chosen by our esteemed parents. And don't they have some crazy ideas? Mine have never even hinted that they considered sensible names like 'Talon' or 'Book Pixie', either of which I would have embraced. Which is why I have just changed a bunch of my on-line usernames to Fireapple. It also ties in rather nicely in some ways with my story in the upcoming RASSSA a...

Wednesday, 31 July 2013. How To Traumatise A Shell. I am less happy about the need to buy a wedding outfit. Normally, though, I live in walking trousers, jeans, work trousers and so on. And dressing gowns. We should be allowed to wear those out and about it normal life. They are so much more comfortable, and I have a lovely hot-pink one. I am sure hot-pink is fashionable. In fact, I could not find a single one. It's a scandal. Eventually, I asked the assistant if a pinkish dress I had found would make me...

Dragon Scales: November 2013
http://shellbromley.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 6 November 2013. Yesterday, as I was sitting with my collies in the darkened living room, hiding from the bangs, there was a knock at the door. The first thing he said to me was 'Is your mum in? My total lack of any verbal response did not put him off. For that alone, he perhaps deserved to gain a donation for his charity. Links to this post. Sunday, 3 November 2013. We are three days into this year's NaNoWriMo. Yay! So far, I am on track with the word count. Here's the thing, though - some pe...

Dragon Scales: March 2014
http://shellbromley.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 March 2014. Having been asked to partake in this blog hop about #mywritingprocess, I have spent most of the evening staring blankly at the inside of my own mind. (Bet you didn't know I had eyes on the inside of my skull as well as on the back of my head and the normal two at the front, did you? And Lewis, no less. Pretty sure an Ent followed me home. In any case, Matt turns out to be just as lovely and interesting in person as he is in cyberspace, which was a relief. He even coped ...At the mo...

Dragon Scales: August 2014
http://shellbromley.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 11 August 2014. This week sees my turn at having a piece of flash-fiction on our RASSSA. This is especially exciting for me, as it marks the first time I have had a piece of artwork produced (and beautifully, too) for something I have written. To find out exactly how she fits in with my tale, you will have to buy A Seeming Glass. Which you can get from a number of places. You can have a hint or two in the flash-piece, which is set a number of years before the events in my anthology story. Is immi...

Dragon Scales: December 2013
http://shellbromley.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 20 December 2013. People seem to have taken to collecting each other, like points in some game. Do you level up when you reach each thousand? At what point does this leveling up mean I grow dragon wings? Because unless it leads to that, I can't see me being able to buy into it. All the best cooking shows say that you do. I choose to believe this is what they mean.). The year before was pretty good, too. It lead me to meeting the lovely Penny. Who was kind enough to link my blog to hers this week.
