A good game of dress-up never gets old. Thursday, February 26, 2015. Historical Sew Monthly: Challenge #2 - Blue. Can you believe February is almost over? I know it's the shortest month, but holy cow. It's just flown by! A lot has happened, and that unfortunately made my plans change a bit for this month's Historical Sew Monthly challenge. I've taken on some more costume projects for the museum (mid-19th Century men's wool pants! I used the tutorial from An Easy, Authentic Eighteenth Century Petticoat.

A good game of dress-up never gets old. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. On May 16th, our museum is going to be hosted a "Night at the Museum"-styled evening. The interpreters are given carte blanche to represent various heroes and villains from world history. Everyone from Angelina Grimke to Kaiser Wilhelm will be there! As a nod to my B.A. French, I decided on Marie Antoinette. Period, but didn't have the delicateness or period pricetag? And I'm ready to get started. Wish me luck! I've only got two months to...

A good game of dress-up never gets old. Thursday, December 11, 2014. I'm a really irresponsible blogger. BUT I am also a triumphant costumer, so at least I've got that going for me. I finished it. The whole thing. And entirely forgot to post continuous updates on my project. So, when I say I finished, I mean I made:. Strapless, mostly-boned stays. A full length petticoat. A lightly boned bodice and polonaise. And all to great success. It was so fun and SO PRETTY! Roughly twenty minutes after finishing.

A good game of dress-up never gets old. Saturday, March 28, 2015. Historical Sew Monthly: Challenge #3 - Stashbusting. Then, my eyes fell on the strangest item I bought in 2014: a faux fur table runner. Table runners, in my experience, are a lovely accent. I see them usually on a special occasion to set off an impressively set table at Christmas or Thanksgiving. A good game of dress-up never gets old. Historical Sew Monthly: Challenge #1 — Foundations. Asymp; Leave a comment. The Historical Sew Monthly is. At Kendra Van Cleave’s DemodeCouture to serve as my loose instructions. My false rump is too-small and all to the back, but when coupled with my Ugly Pink Puffy Petticoat. I think it works out. It’s a loosely-based 1790s false rump, that puts most of the thrust to the back. They’re decently accurate, but I think I’ve heard are built a little more f...It’...
