Out of the miry clay: March 2014

Out of the miry clay. Monday, March 31, 2014. Do you feel like you are missing out on something? I remember envying the Catholic kids who not only got out of school but came back to school with ashes on their forehead, a wordless proclamation of their faith. I got nothing, not ashes, not getting out of school, just a sense that I had to speak my witness, and I am not sure that is harder for any population than a middle-schooler, and that is what I was when the ashes thing took place. This last week, conf...

Out of the miry clay: January 2014
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Tuesday, January 28, 2014. First an apology – last week I had an issue with back spasms, so obviously didn’t do any writing. However, thanks to my heating pad and some happy pills (muscle relaxers) I am doing much better. Now, on to my thoughts today. For the last four weeks, my morning reading was about prayer, but now the topic at hand is prayer, and I want to share an amazing quote from my book, A Year With God,. Now, there’s thought to chew on. Then, for many years I learned and...

Out of the miry clay. Monday, October 13, 2014. I don’t like being scared. That’s the plain truth! I know there are a lot of people that like scary movies and TV shows and scary gory books, but I don’t. I’m not even fond of people who jump out from behind doors and yell “Boo! I think I have lived through enough. Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord. Your God is with you wherever you go.”. I think they must have been facing some scary circumstances for God t...

Out of the miry clay: July 2014
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Monday, July 28, 2014. Now about roommates …. My husband asked me if this last week was a life-changer. Well he put it this way: “Do you think this conference will change the trajectory of your life? 8221; And I guess I would have to say yes, and for a variety of reasons, but one significant motivator came through my roommate. Her book Outrageous Grace. Our trials will probably not be exact parallels of hers, losing a mate in Papua New Guinea, but for sure, we will face similar chal...

Out of the miry clay: November 2014
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Saturday, November 8, 2014. Changing times call for changing blogs! It has happened. I am moving to http:/ CarolBrennanKing.wordpress.com. As you can tell, this blog look somewhat dated, and it is. I have not updated since it was born, many years ago. I must admit, I did not do all the fancy footwork for the new one. My firstborn grandson Jesse Logsdon, a computer engineer, did it for me, and I do hope you find it easy to make the move with me. Hope to hear from you soon. Today wome...

Out of the miry clay: December 2013
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. 2013, that is! It’s actually almost over; only hours stand between the old year and a fresh new one. As I think about the old year, I have to admit, it has been a challenging one. Probably, it has been so for all of us; time is change in itself, hours passing by that we cannot retrieve, so the question is – what do we have to show for 2013. For me, the first half was about finishing well. The books disappeared, and still I have tons that followed me home.

Out of the miry clay: February 2014
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Wednesday, February 26, 2014. February 26, 2014. It’s happened again! I don’t do real well with February. It has always been the longest month of the year. Yes, I get it, it has the fewest days, but they are such dark days. The local weatherman cheered me right up yesterday when he said we set a new record for the snowiest February on record, like that would cheer me up. Laugh at videos of animals and people running into windows or mirrors. So I knew I was in bad shape. Here is what...

Out of the miry clay: You don't have to believe it to make it true!
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014/10/you-dont-have-to-believe-it-to-make-it.html
Out of the miry clay. Monday, October 6, 2014. You don't have to believe it to make it true! Have you ever had a moment, or longer, of doubt that God is who he said he was/is? Have you ever wondered whether going to or being part of a church was worth it? Since there are so many hypocrites, after all? Have you ever found yourself struggling with doubt, because I think if we were honest, most of us have had times like that? But we don’t! Oh, we can make those choices, but God is still who he says he was a...

Out of the miry clay: The Key to good....
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-key-to-good.html
Out of the miry clay. Monday, October 27, 2014. The Key to good. The key to good anything is so cheap. Funny how we plan and program and read and study how to do anything or go any place, how we pay good money for how-to books and watch films hoping to pick up what we need to make it good, when what we really need to do is listen. That was also before we could afford a TV though I did listen to the radio. The theme of my Year Through the Bible this last week has been meditation, and I have been much more...

Out of the miry clay: September 2014
http://carol-outofthemiryclay.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Out of the miry clay. Monday, September 29, 2014. When the sun doesn’t shine…. Yesterday was a glorious day…not just that it was Sunday, but the sun lit up the red and orange and yellow leaves glowing from within contrasting with the almost fluorescent green. In. Fact, at one point, I told my husband it almost looked like some of the trees were hand painted and decorated for fall. And I guess they were, God painted and dressed for fall. Do you know what I mean? We can own the reality that God, Who loves ...
