Having taught in Primary schools for a number of years, I moved into Higher Education, at the University of Birmingham, researching a PhD and teaching Ethics, Practical Theology and courses in Religion and Politics, in 1999. In 2003, I completed a funded PhD on lived religion as evidenced by oral history during the Second World War, which also examined the role and activities of the churches to war during the blitz.
