Descending from a long line of artists and designers, he drew and painted from the time he could hold a brush. He studied architecture at Cornell University, both in upstate New York and Rome, Italy. Upon graduation, Ramsay moved to Boston, where he worked for the noteworthy firms of Moshe Safdie and Graham Gund Architects. In 1995, he established Ramsay Gourd Architects.
