August 5, 2015. Kingfisher @ L’dod Lake. A belated report of one from John Leafe-delightful news as we haven’t had one for a long time. Sand Martins and several Swifts low level hawking there today between showers. He also has both Flycatchers hanging around his garden. We seem to have Robins in all stages : probably 1st-3rd broods or just latecomers. Posted in Bird Sightings. Laquo; Llyngwyn Lake and Nantmal tip. August 18, 2016. A couple of garden visitors. Always a joy to see this little creature on your doorstep. Also this young Nuthatch has found the peanuts…. A recent sortie down the river Ithon produced:- A fem Goosander ( no sign of young unfortn) Two young Heron, a family or two fams of 10 Grey Wags, a Kingfisher, a dipper ( not a lot about the river this year) several buzzard, 8 mallard and a cormorant, could be the one which made a brief appearance at the lake recently. July 30, 2015. Ospreys over the border! A reminder to all who have not visited the Dyfi Osprey project this year. Get up there guys-it’s wonderful! The 3 young are all flapping around now, so more chance of views and they will be there for only a few weeks before Africa beckons. Here are two of the youngsters exercising their new found freedom today.We also watched one playfully divebombing a B. Uzzard and a Red Kite at the same time: just to show he could! Over the period 13th to 20th July, a period of relatively warm nights compared with those of late, 2567 moths of 175 species. Scarce Silver Y and Scarce Silver-lines (see photo) were among those I particularly like to see but they are all fantastically beautiful. Some days it took over two hours to go through the trap!
