Thursday, May 31, 2007. Alright, that's it! I'm going to start writing again. I had a bit of a tough time finding time to blog as we bought the house, moved, tore out the kitchen, and remodeled, but now that's pretty much done (I say pretty much, because I still can't find my other black slingback mule. still some unpacked boxes in the basement! Choice and decided that if I was going to wait around for a promotion I might be old and gray before it happened -SO- I started school again! And I also needed S...

Tuesday, February 01, 2005. So, the hospital has been painting, scrubbing, polishing, lighting, moving, decorating, filing, writing, and re-writing. They've tested and drilled employees so we'll know the proper responses should we have the unlikely misfortune of coming under the gaze of one of these inspectors. I never did see an inspector. I don't know what part of the hospital they were in, but everyone acted like they were right there. ICU nurses are alredy stressed out most of the time anyway.

Tuesday, June 19, 2007. A day off to catch up on things. Work has been sort of stressful - the new charge nurse flits around the unit going 12 ways at once and pretty much accomplishing nothing. When I work with her I don't feel we're a team. Although I try to remind her of things she has to do it feels like there's no back-up for me (there are only two floor RNs, one med-nurse and about 6 mental health specialists for each floor). He went on to say that I didn't have the experience to know that in.

Thursday, December 30, 2004. Yeha, It's been a few days since I've posted. I worked Christmas weekend, and I'm just starting to catch up with things (including sleep! I've been helping out with one particular patient who has been in the ICU for a few days. As a tech, I usually know what the diagnosis is, but rarely will get much background information on someone unless I have the time to look it up myself. Posted by HypnoKitten at 12:10 PM. Sunday, January 31, 2010. I do regret that now. Looking back I am taken right back to that time. "These stories are great! I think to myself. "why isn't my practice like this? Well, it still is. I just got lazy and thought maybe the stories sounded too much alike. Too much pain and heartache with a generous bit of black humor thrown in. Who would want to hear another one? Nods and thanks to all the readers who might still have me on their feeds. Surprise! Posted by HypnoKitten at 5:49 AM.

Monday, November 29, 2004. I enjoy reading healthcare-related blogs. I started out with JoHanna's, but I can't find it anymore. Then I found Code Blog, and I enjoy that. I linked to a couple others that she had posted, and I was hooked. Reading stories about patients and situations is really interesting to me because I get a chance to put myself in that place. It's almost like taking another class. Posted by HypnoKitten at 11:58 PM. Friday, November 26, 2004. Posted by HypnoKitten at 11:27 PM. Posted by ...

Saturday, January 20, 2007. I wanted to do a few papers towards my masters degree this semester. After Christmas it's become clear that not only do I not have the money, I barely have enough to pay the bills. Let me be plain, this is not because I'm paid just on or above the poverty line. I earn something like $40 000 per year, gross. Not US dollars (if only! Posted by PaedsRN at 2:25 PM. I'm confused. What country are you working in? And if those aren't US dollars, then what? A quick search yields: 1 Ne...

Thursday, March 01, 2007. I guess I've got to do my part to spread this around :) I hope they got extra credit for it! Posted by HypnoKitten at 7:21 PM. What attracted me to nursing is when I discovered it uses science, psychology, technology, skills, being involved in research and analysis of treatment.etc etc. I would make good money and be challenged. I would make a difference. That is a career worth investing myself in! Nurse Practitioners Save Lives. Yeah, I hated nursing school! I'm not a nurse but...
