My current hobby is finding new hobbies. Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Delta Robot 3D Printer. Sounds cool doesn't it? I first started with a dynamixel servo based delta robot design thinking they should have a decent resolution. Then after I built it, I found that was not the case, at least for 3D printing purposes. Also the controller started resetting every couple of moves so I probably fried it somehow. It was good enough to test the theory though. Yeah, it printed an awesome lump! So, what went wrong?

It is now using OpenGL ES 2 for rendering so it performs much better. It also makes it easier to smooth the temperature readings overlay to look better. Still working on auto-ranging the color ranges and I need to add a few more color ranges to pick from. Motherboard of a running PC, the CPU heatsink works well. The chipset is a little hot.

To avoid repeating all the build parameter for the target board model and the serial interface we add a ino.ini file with the following configuration. Build again, relying on the ino.ini to set the board model and serial port to use. Then we upload to the device. Cp , /blinky/ino.ini . Sudo apt-get install picocom.

It´s not much to look at but it proves that I can get plastic out of that thing. But there are a few caveats still apart from the underwhelming amount extruded :).
