Monday, November 24, 2008. Yue Opera Clover Leaves. It was my first time watching a Chinese opera performance live at our campus' mini-theater last Friday. There were five skits; I couldn't understand every word, but at least I knew what was going on. : ). Skit 1: a scene from the Butterfly Lovers. Skit 2: a scene from The Peony Pavilion. A Japanese monk. His statue was erected to symbolize goodwill between the Chinese and the Japanese peoples. But, uhmm. the "Japanese" in "Chinese-Japanese friendship ties" engraved on the plaque is crossed out. XB. I don't regret it, though, if only for the peace of mind visiting temples brings. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Guanyin Mountain Guanyin Temple Tudigong Temple. By the seaside at Guanyin Mountain, a tourist hotspot during the right season. It was almost deserted when Uncle took us there, though. Sand sculptures with themes from the Beijing Olympics. Uncle also drove us to the Guanyin Temple. A map of Buddhist deities.
