Not the greatest snow conditions for our annual ski trip this year. However we took advantage of the fast travel conditions to venture far and wide. At one point after they had dropped in above us yet again their lead guide Ken stopped by to offer his apologies. No worries, we were cool. And also to of...We to...

Trip Reports from the Okanagan. A diary of backcountry skiing and climbing trips near Kelowna BC. Sunday, April 05, 2015. Vaux Moraines to The Overlook Bowl. Posted by Andrew Parker. Our third visit to The Overlook Bowl this year. This time we finally got around to going in from the top. Blue line roughly shows the way. It was a stunning day. The open creeks were a reminder that winter was rapidly melting away. We made our way up past the toe of the moraine and towards the Sir Donald bivy site. Just a tr...

Trip Reports from the Okanagan. A diary of backcountry skiing and climbing trips near Kelowna BC. Monday, May 18, 2015. Posted by Andrew Parker. We made the trek into the Glacier Circle Cabin over the Victoria Day long weekend with Nick. There was just enough snow remaining for us to ski right from the car. But only just. We started out under clear skies but the visibility crapped out by midday. Once over the glacier we were forced to start hiking through the rockier parts of the trail. Dave asked us to ...

Brian met us at the Visitors Centre in Rogers Pass on Saturday to hike up to Hermit Meadows. Still plenty of snow. We dug out a platform under gloomy skies. And got a brew on. While Brian went full "competent camper" and arranged everything to be within reach of his comfy bivy sack. Next morning dawned nice and clear. Mount Sifton SE Ridge.

Trip Reports from the Okanagan. A diary of backcountry skiing and climbing trips near Kelowna BC. Sunday, June 29, 2014. Okanagan Mountain Park by Mountain Bike. Posted by Andrew Parker. The ride to Divide Lake is a grind but mostly harmless and Divide Lake itself is a beautiful spot. Things start getting more interesting on the Mountain Goat Trail. But at least there were a few chances to actually sit on the bikes. Sinkholes fallen into: 1 (Brenda). Ditches somersaulted into: 1 (Brenda). Motivation ran ...

Between Christmas and New Year we spent a few days in Rossland with our friend Mark. I worked with Mark several years ago in the tech industry and we have kept in touch through the years. At any time of year. By the time we left there was a well beaten path leading through the snow from Mark's front door to the brewery. Sunday, December 07, 2014. The Advent...

Trip Reports from the Okanagan. A diary of backcountry skiing and climbing trips near Kelowna BC. Sunday, July 27, 2014. Hermit Mountain West Ridge. Posted by Andrew Parker. Up to Hermit Meadows with Dave to try Hermit Mountain. The west ridge is an excellent route. Clean, continuously interesting, and much more aesthetic than many of the similar easy climbs in the area. With some careful route finding we managed to avoid using the rope and were on the top within guidebook time. Unheard of. For us. We co...
