The doctors evaluate these scans along two dimensions degree of growth/shrinkage of the tumor mass as well as the degree of enhancement based on uptake of contrast material. Two scans ago she picked up more contrast, which some doctors (but not all) believe denotes activity internal to the remaining tumor.
